Will I lose my Orange Out Here Free Texts For Life

In 2002 I was lucky enough to spot and pay for the 'Orange out Here 5 free texts for as long as you have this phone deal'.

now, I want to move that SIM card to my new phone and go on to their cheapest PAYG package -Raccoon-so when I make calls they are cheap!

Will I risk losing my daily 5 free texts?????

I can't find any answer on their site or by googling.

  • Why not phone them and ask
If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction.

  • If you change your tariff then I'm afraid you will.
  • I think the clue may also be in the offer... "'Orange out Here 5 free texts for as long as you have this phone deal'".. ;)

Changing phone = offer ends. Was this deal good even without top ups? Because these days a maximum of 155 texts a month if you also still had to top-up isn't that great anyway.
  • Thanks for the responses. The point is that I was just going to move the SIM card from the old phone to my new one, keeping the old phone for hubby who doesn't text but with my 'new' SIM in it, so as far as Orange are concerned there wouldn't be any difference, would there?

It is a good deal for me because I tend to text upto the 5 a day and use talk time much less frequently.

putting the sim card in a different phone shouldn't make a difference but changing to racoon definitely would!

yeah, as long as you don't change to racoon you will be ok. if you change to racoon then you are changing your package.

check all prices though, you may well b better off changing your package & losing the texts
  • Hey, Grimlea and Reehsetin,
Thanks very much for that. I just find it all sooo confusing! i went into the Orange shop today. they weren't sure but thought I'd be ok-I think I'll do as you suggest though-not switch to Racoon and think about checking the prices.

I am on orange payg on the old tariffs. I still get 5 free txts which should have been cancelled months ago but I think it is an oversight from orange CS. Now when I top up by £10, I can get free monthly reward but I think I have to change to the new tariffs to qualify!! I read somewhere if I do that orange will cancel the free 5 txts. I am sure I will be better of with the new tariffs as I am paying 35p to cross network, and with this new tariffs I can choose to get it for 15p. Thanks
  • As above, if you change your tariff then you lose the 5 free texts a day so you need to work out what your usage is between texting and calls as to if a change of tariff will be worth while. You have the 5 free texts a day even if you don't top up.
