Just checked my credit files using Equifax:

And according to them there have been no previous searches on my file at my current address. I've been here since July and in that time applied for a Virgin credit card (which was rejected) and ordered Virgin internet.
Does this mean that if a lender searched my file with Experian it wouldn't show up with Equifax?

Yep. Searches only appear on the file they were made on.0

Cheers for the info. I have quite a few searches on my file via Experian.
Does this mean I'd have a better chance of being accepted for a 0% card if I go for one that uses Equifax then?0 -
That's correct. A CC like Flybe for example which only searches Equifax0

Thanks guys. Know of any that use Equifax that offers a 12 month 0% BT card? Don't think the Flybe one at 6months would really save me much. And wouldn't help that I'd have to apply for another one so shortly.0

don't virgin search both though??0
-
No, MBNA only search Experian in my experience0

Virgin left a mark on my Experian report. Nothing on my Equifax one.
Looking at Leeds Building Society 5.9% for life of balance. Tempting.
edit: just noticed its handled by Barclaycard. Already have one of those.0 -
the credit ref page say both[mbna/virgin] search Ex &Eq so strange they have that on there.

ok. Before I get on the phone (I've had enough of that already this morning!) ICICI offer a 0% for 12months on BT. However this card is issued by MBNA. So who does the checking? ICICI (who according to this site use Equifax) or MBNA (Who use Experian).
Similarly, Leeds BS offer a 5.9% for life of balance card. Their card is issued by Barclays. Same question applies.0 -
Most banks and some other financial institutions check both Experian and Equifax when checking applications. Some banks load details to Experian and others load to Equifax but usualy both systems will be checked. Hope that helps.
p.s if you really want to know re MBNA, then i can confirm they load to Equifax0
