Yeah this is just standard with dell. I phoned for support and gave a follow-up call which they wanted to talk myself as I had made the call and not anyone else. Took them a few days to finally get hold of me.0

I'm certainly not suggesting everyone's a perv!
I do think though that it is inappropriate for a company to telephone a child. The call should always be made through mum or dad.
My DS1 (9) wrote his own letter of complaint about a broken product recently. The company replied asking my son to phone them to discuss it. I thought it odd that they didn't suggest he got permission to phone them first. I know I allowed him to write the letter, but I still found it odd that they would be happy to negotiate with a 9yr old.*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***

Possibly just a part of their script with dealing with such enquiries, rather than any personally thought about procedure. They may always do it that way, so if a situation like yours occurs, they are "not able" to deviate from the routine.
i would suggest that exactly the same situation happened above with dell."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."
