This normally happens when driver are missing. Do you have graphics drivers installed?
Have there been any (Windows) updates recently?
If the graphics drivers are installed, try uninstalling then reinstalling them. The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

The screen should work as it is. I was talking about drivers for the graphics card. Do you know which graphics card you have?
What operating system are you running?
Is it a bought machine? If so, what's the make and model? The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

What is the screen that is currently connected?have connected a Grundig 17 tv screen
If it's a standard TV then 800x600 is about the max you'll get in terms of resolution as that is about the limit that normal TV's can display at.
If it's a HD LCD TV you may need to use a different connection - if you are using composite, scart, or SVHS to connect to the TV you'll be limited by the connection type (which only allows for standard TV resoultions).0 -

From what little I know about such things your monitor usually tells your graphics card what resolutions it's capable of. And you're only offered those resolutions when you go to change them.
I know there's a way of turning this feature off but when I read about it, it came with a huge caution not to do so unless you know what you're doing - in case you switch to a resolution that your monitor can't display, and then you'll really be in schtuck! (You won't be able to see what you're doing to change it back again.)
So maybe your monitor/TV is claiming to only be able to display at 800*600, so that's all your PC offers you. Or maybe it's not giving any such information at all - and 800*600 is all that's offered in that case.
These are just half-educated guesses on my part, but just in case they come in useful.0 -
First of all TV wont work with a Pc full stop (too technical for this forum). So what have you connected it to?
A computer monitor at 17" will do 1024x768. Then it's video card drivers.0 -
