Yes, silly me. Assuming we'd receive an explanation as to why payments made direct to a court for Child Maintenance were credited onto someone elses Maintenance account.
Whatever was I thinking of? I've read enough horror stories on these threads that I should have realised these places make their own rules up as they go along.
It sure gives you faith in the system, doesn't it?

krashovr10ad hasnt said he wants to run away from his responsibilities, what he is saying is that the csa havnt allowed him to keep a little extra to provide for the daughter he has taken on

i cant understand why you are all jumping over this man, why isnt her exs father supporting her child thats the argument here.

Im going to be in the same boat, my boyfriend pays csa for his son in a previous relationship yet i cant get a penny out of my ex for our daughter.

I think he shud pay her and leave us alone to get on with our lives.

CSA dont count for that do they.

As it stands at the moment - we are left with £30 more than being on benefit. I really can't see the point of working 6 days a week for that...

Totally sympatise mate. This country does not encourage people to work. Both my partner and myself work full time yet we would be better off by not working. If it wasn't for personal pride... And get this, i started a college course and was really struggeling financially and get awarded £450 for the YEAR and 2 girls in my class who were on income support got £1500 even though my family have £20 per month less per person!!! Oh and I just love it that my dad worked himself almost to death to support our family and he doesn't have anything to show for it, meanwhile his next door neighbour is on benefits , has 2 NEW cars, double glazing, new driveway etc etc and my poor dad is skimping around buying cut price food and has pneumonia in his right lungfrom years of slogging his guts out

Hey Lone Ranger, calm down. You have your view, people have theirs. I think they're both valid points of view.

I think we all know cases where benefits appear to be given to people who shouldn't. I can't fault the OP for wondering if he should give up work when he appears to be working 40+ hours a week for £30. I think if I was in the same situation, I'd be tempted too. Hats off for him for not doing so.

£64 per week from an income of £1050 is 27% of his net income. Ouch. Under the new rules, for 1 child you should only pay 15%. However, I think you need your ex's permission to go to the new rules and thats not likely to happen is it???

I do think though that in general this country has a benefits system that actually discourages people to work. We've brought up a whole generation of people who believe they have "rights" to benefits yet don't understand that others must work to provide for their "rights"

It actually depresses me to see the way the country is going. Nothing seems to work anymore.

Actually both my partner and I work full time and I know exactly the figures that we would get if we claimed benefits thankyou and we are not better off not working. We both work because of our pride. I'm not whinging what I haven't got or encouraging people not to work, I'm whinging that the system does not encourage or help people to help themselves in this respect. I'm sorry, but my father has worked hard all his life and is ill as a result and the system has not benefitted him, it has worked against him.

  • rubbish benefit claiments are not better off they have the minimum to live off as stated by the government in at the time ,i would not like to live off what they get and do not envy the people that do have to live of it, the idea they are better off than a worker is rather silly a couple on benefits in rented accomodation would get help towards rent and help toward council tax and an allowance for themselves as in hard cash in there hand, what they get i spend on 1 weeks grocerys and a few bottles of wine this life of luxury is a pure myth ,and should they get more ? no ,encourage back to work through tax credits and make work pay the same idea works in the usa uk australia and canada it works

Then why are there so many people on benefits if they are better off at work? I think perhapse you are thinking of people with no children who claim jobseekers because that isn't much, agreed (about £45 a week). If you have children you do get alot more. Don't forget rent/mortgage is normally what swallows a families pay and if you are on benefits then you get all if not most (depending on size of house and number of kids of course) of it paid so this should be counted in the figures. I don't care what you say, I get penalised in many aspects financially for working.

  • pay your mortgage i dont think so interest only is paid so after 3 months your house is on the market and your debt is growing , a family with 2 kids would get £125pweek cash in the hand they still have to pay a part of there rent and part of there council tax £60 food bill, then theres gas electric water rates all have to come out of that, no benefits are given to pay them so i think the word skint comes to mind as to why are so many on it 1.2 million are unemployed out of 59 million people unemployed people in general are out of work for around 3 months the rest are the poorly skilled and the unemployable and yes the bone idle are in there too,we have 2 million claiming incompacity benefit this lot are being dealt with and in 5 years will be slashed as they will be helped back in to work ,and yes some can live on the small amount given ,but what are they getting out of life the odd game of bingo or lottery 20 fags and a few drinks down the pub wow what a life to wish for
