Child Maintenance (CSA) questions (merged)

Bossyboots knows what she's talking about, and I've been thinking about this as well. If your grandson was taken away from your daughter, things must have been pretty bad, so the chances of getting anything via CSA must be vanishingly small - the person with care of the child only gets it if the absent parent is paying it!
I'm going to send you a PM.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Does the father work for a UK based company? Do you have both parents NI number?
Even if NRP are on IS they have to pay "the fiver"! Better than nothing.
The only way to get anything done (if anything can be done) full stop is to ask for a meeting with the chief executive via you MP...Yeah I have met the ex ...Demon Doug Smith, but you will probably get to meet a Senior Case Manager instead.Still worth doing as Stevie Babes is too engrossed in his "overhaul"!!!! ( get the pun?) Then this manager will oversee that things are done correctly. But mine has assured me child support is "not guaranteed" ( so I ask myself why does the CSA exist and what's all this with their mission statement? )
It might also be worth exploring the Parliamentary Ombudsman route...again via your MP...just to make sure there is no case of maladminstration. But you need to go through the complaint procedure first.Don't bother with ICE.
BTW...I loathe the CSA.0 -
Just a quick query,
I have been paying child maintenance to my ex for my 15yr old daughter for almost 11yrs now since we divirced.
I apy directly into ex's bank account as we stopped using CSA years ago, but i was wondering to what age am i expected to keep paying as the £210 per month could be used clearing debts i have.
I am happy to keep payning the maintenance for whtaeverthe term maybe, but like some idea of when i am no longer expected to pay and can then use the money towards my debts.
Am i right in assuming; maintenance should be paid upto 16th birthday if child comes out of education?
Or
Upto 18th birthday if continues in education suchas going to college or sixth form?
Are you still expected to pay if once they reach 18 they then go on to university until 21?
What termination ages do CSA work to?0 -

If they go to university you arent still espected to pay but it would be an idea as someone has just taken their dad to court to get him to pay csa while she is at uni!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
I thought it was untiol they finished full time ed but could be wrong - wouldn't mind finding out though
anyone?I haven't got one!0 -
Its when they leave school at 16(when they leave, not their birthday), or collage at around 19 years, university doesnt count.

Or when child benefit ceases..0

From csa faq's
When does child maintenance finish?
A non-resident parent will be liable to pay child maintenance while Child Benefit is being paid and the child is
aged under 16; or
aged 16 to 19 and in full-time non-advanced education.
The definition of full time education is more than 12 hours a week of study on a course up to and including A level standard.
When a child leaves full time education in the summer, Child Benefit generally continues until the first week of September.

Non-resident parents are not assessed for student loan but step-parent's income is taken into account. If your child goes to college she would probably appreciate some support from you maybe it's time for a chat with the ex about her expectations?0

My ex-husband has to pay for his mistresses child until she is 17, under a court order. We didn't use a court, but just agreed between us. He is paying for our two at the moment, although my daughter is 19. He has said he'll pay me the same money till my son leaves college, although how I'll manage then is anyones guess!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0
