  • Personally I'd say Avira Antivir but people also rate Avast as another option
  • Yep Avira is better if you are using vista else avast

Make sure you cancel that direct debit (youve not signed into some 12 month 'contract' though have you?)
AVG anti virus by itself has created quite a few problems this last year, on that basis alone id recommend using AVAST or AVIRA instead (Both free, as is the free version of AVG)
The paid version of AVG you have, has a firewall thats full of 'leaks'. What this basically means is that youd be more safe using windows inbuilt firewall than using the one you just paid for! As for the rest of what you get with it im unsure, but the firewall IS important.

because avast blocks webpages on vista and you will have to adjust or reset it a little bit thereby violating some of its security features. While avira will just work for you straightaway.

I have tried this cos I have both vista and xp laptops. The avast worked perfectly on my xp while on vista, it needed re-adjusting everytime.

Avast runs fine on my Vista without any tweaking what so ever

  • It won't work on mine...its just like the clash of the titans with windows vista business.

The other point against avg free is that it does not cover root kits where as avira does. Only the paid version of avg covers rootkits so you have a big security hole with avg free.
