Do you have a working serial number for XP, that is your own?

If so, you could (legally) download an ISO for XP, burn the ISO image to CD and use that - so long as you use your own serial number.

After an hr to download the 'image' I now need more downloads to open this. This cant be right can it ?

Does the file end in .iso?
    You don't open the file.
Use IMGBURN to burn the .iso file to CD.
    Move along, nothing to see.

An ISO file can be burnt to CD using most/all CD recording software.
Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.
