unpartitioning my drive

Options
Hi,

Due to a virus a a friend of mine partitioned my C drive and put windows xp pro on it - I now use this limited (not much memory space) drive for internet access. All my docs, photo's etc are still on the other part of the drive that wont boot up properly.
I have backed all my docs onto an external drive so I wont lose anything.
I now want to unpartition the drive so that I make all the space avalible but keeping xp pro as my OS.
I havent got any OS disks with me at the mo so would want to try and do this with what is on here at the mo.
Any one have any advice ?

  • Could you use something like this to delete your current unused partition then extend the OS one?

  • I've not used it personally but does the help section describe how you'd go about doing this before booting into windows? E.g. make a boot disk?

Your best bet would be to reinstall XP again. During the installation of XP, you can choose to delete and create partitions.

When I'm about to delate all partitions a warning message comes up saying at the computer may not boot up if I do so. I take it from that if I remove the partition the OS wont boot up ?

Do you have a working serial number for XP, that is your own?

If so, you could (legally) download an ISO for XP, burn the ISO image to CD and use that - so long as you use your own serial number.
