  • not much you can do.

Air Lingus can change their number as much as they want but people with the number similar to yours will still use that number. All that will happen is new documents will have the new number and new customers with that document will phone it.

There was a number I saw recently, and underneath it said PLEASE DIAL CAREFULLY we have a lot of people mis-dialing and disturbing private numbers.

I think it was on a radio station website possibly radio 1.

This I suggest is the least that Lingus can do.

Where is the phone number advertised?

    google "please dial carefully"
  • some people don't know how to dial carefully. My work landline diverts to my mobile after 2 rings. About 11pm a while back i got a call, somebody asking for his mate. When i asked what he dialed he said '424242'. My work number is 757575

Every time someone rings by mistake, say something like the following.

Sssssssorrry, yyyyouuu aaaarrrrre ththththrough ttttto the the the tttttttalk dddownnnn ccccccontroll ttttowerrrr.

Other than that, is it possible to get a block put on any unrecognised number?

    ....and another thing.

It is an offence under the Wireless and Telegraphy act to use foul language over a 'phone or radio network.

you could let it go to answerphone all the time and set your message to say this is not Air Lingus (though think Air Mingus is better) and if you want me then leave a message.

might cost you a fortune ringing others back though

Make an arrangement with a competitor airline so that when you generate leads for them by directing the callers to the competitor, you get a fee!

Actually there is only one way to resolve this - Air Lingus will have to give you a courtesy payment and you will have to get a new number.

Change your answerphone to say that you have gone into receivership and no one will be receiving any refunds for their flights.
