Avoid Virgin Media

Hi,
Avoid Virgin Media, their last tactic is they put you on a 12 months deal when you phone to negotiate a better deal without letting you know.
They gave me such a hard time and can't wait to move to another provider.
One month I was £25 in credit the following month they were chasing me for a £50 bill.
Was shocked when they said I'm on a 12 months contract and asked me to pay £10 cancellation charge.
Will never use them again.

Every time I see their latest TV advert for the 50Mbit service, the 'Mother of all %$£&*%*' (insert your own preferred description), I fall about laughing. This useless bunch of *****s can't even deliver a simple 2Mbit service to me.
The word FRAUD comes to mind.

I feel the same and in fact I phoned today to complain about:Every time I see their latest TV advert for the 50Mbit service, the 'Mother of all %$£&*%*' (insert your own preferred description), I fall about laughing. This useless bunch of *****s can't even deliver a simple 2Mbit service to me.

Dave.
a) the fact that new customers get better deals than existing
b) the slow speed of the 2mb service
Couldn't get anywhere with a) but on b) was told that in my area there was an intention to upgrade 2mb customers to 4mb in the near future.
Anyone else heard this?Awaiting a new sig0 -

a) I'm told the only way to get a cheaper deal is to threaten to leave and ask for your MAC code. Virgin then transfer you to their 'retentions' department and try to woo you with a better deal, but as the OP found out, they'll likely put you on a new 12 month contract and lock you in  .
b) My local telephone exchange was "upgraded" a couple of months ago. I was on the 2Mbit service for £17.99 a month, and I got an email from Virgin to say I was going to benefit from this free upgrade which I was going to get whether I wanted it or not.
Well something obviously happened, because since then, my Speedtouch modem reportedly syncs at anything up to 6Mbit (previously synced at 2Mbit). However, whilst the upstream speed has doubled to around 600Kbit, the downstream speed (the important one) is still only giving me the previous 1.75Mbit at very best, so no actual improvement at all. Worse still, since this 'upgrade' Virgin have tightened up their traffic management and throttling of the service so that it drops to dial-up speeds around 3 to 4 pm every day, and after 5 pm I'm lucky if it works at all. Everything just grinds to a halt!
Someone on the Thinkbroadband forum said the fact that my upstream speed has doubled probably indicates that I have been put on an LLU under Cable & Wireless ... apparently Virgin have outsourced these 'upgrades' to C&W.
I am not a happy bunny.
