The future of BTL

Comments

  • There will always be a valuable market for BTL - at some point the numbers will make sense. What I can't see continuing is the mass market where people could obtain BTL mortgages with pretty small deposits and for little risk premium in their interest rates.

The banks lent far too much at far too high a level of risk. At, say, a 30% deposit many of the smaller investors won't be able to raise enough capital to play in this market, which should at least remove some of the speculative fervour.

I think all the traditional landlords who havent over geared in the last 3-4 years will be ok. However I'm sure there are many of them left now, its going to be carnage.

All the big buy to let lenders have effectively closed shop, Bristol and West won't be doing any UK business as of this week. The smaller providers have gone to the wall.

Then you have all the criminal & Inland Revenue investigations, falling rents, increased void periods and added bureaucracy now.

Its going to be carnage and those in good positions are going to find it ever harder to buy.

BTL should be outlawed. One property per person/couple instead of a load of greedy swine commandeering all the available housing stock

How would you deal with the Queen, the head of state, think she has more than one property. Has a bit of land aswell I think, are you advocating a seisure of her lands ???

Yes! I would make a special exception! We the taxpayers own every brick anyway. Bung the royals in a 20th floor council flat (nice rough area) and make the lovely palaces into amusement parks. Hurray!

    I am quite serious BTW.

A friend of mine works as a carpet cleaner for rental properties. He was telling me that work is dropping off because the Poles and Chinease that did most of the renting are now !!!!!!ing off back to their own countries.

Hopefully the powers that be will force lazy English scroungers into these jobs rarther than sponging off the state.

No extra tax credits or child benefit for the third kid onwards. Seriously. When are they going to act on this?

Buckingham Palace was a private gift from one individual to another. Nobody has a claim on it except HMQ.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Royalist. I like these things to be right though.

I'm a neofeudalist (with me as the Boss) BTW. In the meantime libertarianism is good enough.
