I have written the following text to the Letting Agent (he texted me "We have a viewing at 11am on Monday")
"As it is exam time I would prefer not to have anyone look around. Could you please postpone the viewing until our exams are finished on Jan 29th?"
As you would see if you'd read the previous posts, I did ask him to rearrange.0 -
That's a good point, the OP has stated that that she' has issues' with the LL/LA and I fear is now going out of thier way to be awkward.
How dare a LL carry out repairs; how dare they !!"An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

The 29th of Jan ???
How about 4 -5 hours later, or the next day? Don't tell me you have exams 24/7 for the next 2 weeks.
As you are aware, now is prime trime letting to students and most want to secure a place before end of Jan. If the LA/LL follows your suggestion, then many students will already have signed up elsewhere."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I don't think that is fair, in fact I find it a little offensive. Obviously I want the things to be repaired, but what I'd prefer is for them not to break in the first place.
One example is that we had to have a carpenter out twice because of the handle of the toilet door falling off and it can leave you locked inside (no windows etc in the toilet) On the second visit, the carpenter said he'd been out to do a "botch job" on the landlords say-so a "few times" last year. Thats the sort of thing I mean.
Perhaps you are misunderstanding that I just came here for advice on my rights, instead, I'm being unfairly insulted.
Myself and my husband have exams every 3rd day from now until the 29th, and it is our final year, so yes actually I think I am entitled to peace and quiet in my house. Also, my university has told students not to look for a house until the 24th, and none of the viewers has been a student, so I don't think that is an issue.0 -
Hi,
I know what you're going through as I have exams at the moment too. I also had a problem letting agency last year. If you want to complain try ARLA or http://www.oea.co.uk/ but check to see if the LA is a member - they are probably a member of ARLA but not necessarily OEA, which is the ombudsman. I think you can do a search and check.
Good luck with your exams.0 -

And the LL left with an empty property, tbh kk you're acting a bit of a fool about this, your LL & LA are making inspections and repairs on a regular basis so that alone suggests they are acting responsibly, yet you maintain they are a 'problem' due to an off the cuff remark about the amount of stuff you have?. When I was at uni I had some genuinely bad landlords and I chose to move out.
As the pp suggested about the dates do you seriously have no time whatsoever between now and the end of your exams?, i'm sure you'll be quenching your student thirst in the Rescue Rooms or some other godawful hole between now and then.
You need to grow up."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

I dont think anyone's deliberately offending you, you just need to develop a thick skin, I've been to uni too and lived in some hovels with dreadful landlords, this landlord cannot really be accused of that."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

I don't see where you get off in being rude and abusive to someone who has asked for advice. If you don't have anything useful to contribute, which you clearly don't, you don't have to stay on this thread.
I've been spending the time I'm not revising either trying to sort out the problems with my flat, eating or sleeping, so no, robin I will not be in rescue rooms as I take my education seriously. God knows I'm paying enough for it.
I do see that perhaps I should have explained in more depth the problems with the flat, the landlord and the agent.0 -
TBH I really don't see what issues you can have with your LL/LA, a simple I can't make it then can you make it that evening for about half an hour?.
The problems with your flat are largely self made through your percieved issues with the LL/LA. FTR I work for a housing charity is the East End of London and the notion that someone has a problem with the amount of visits/repairs carried out in a flat causes me some amusement.
Explaining in depth any issues/problems will stand you in good stead when sitting your finals.
Good luck with them."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
