Hi undercoat,
This older thread may help:
Just met my first Jerusalem artichoke???
I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

Mmmm. Love 'em just lightly boiled - trouble is, don't have them when you've got guests for dinner - they (to put it politely) give you wind....0

I don't peel them, it would take hours and you would have little left. A bit of a scrub and then boil them up. Not everyone likes these but i think they are quite good. Incredibly easy to grow and they make a good screen in the garden as they grown about 2m tall. You just plant ones you buy in a shop, but make sure you want them, as once they start growing you will never remove all of the artichokes from the ground and they will come up year after year.
Lots of info here

i had some of these in a organic box once and i made a potato and artichoke dauphinoise with them and it was yummy. very very fattening thoughOther women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts0

Thanks for your replies. I ended up boiling our homegrown artichokes - yuck they were horrible. The only person who liked them was our youngest daughter who scoffed nearly all of them - they say on the internet that they give you wind - so we will watch and wait!
I don't think I will grow those again!!0 -
My preferance is rosted. I hate them boiled but cant get enough of them rosted!0

Give them a second chance. They make fabulous soup .
Palestine Soup
Gently fry a chopped onion in butter, add a couple of chopped rashers of bacon.
Add about a 500g of washed and chopped jerusalem artichokes.
Pour on about a litre of chicken stock. Cook over a low heat until soft. Blend till smooth, season and add a little cream.0 -
Does anyone have a decent recipe for Jerusalem Artichokes as I am fed up with soup. If anyone wants to grow a trouble free vegetable with very little work involved I would give these a go, the only downside seems to be what to do with the huge crop.January food 175.00 spent 181.60 oops nothing left. £4000 challenge/3384.49 leftheating oil £396.69,NSD 13/200

Hi Mshawx,
There's an older thread with some ideas that might help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the replies together.
