Yeah this is what's bugging me, the fact i've totally got to trust the buyer to admit the item has arrived. Have looked at their feedback and they have 100% themselves but are not afraid to leave negative feedback for others.0

AS per the first post there is a difference between what will happen when you have a good buyer and what happens when you get a bad one.
This buyer is already proving himself a bit hasty, however if he does open a paypal chargeback and does not close it when his item arrives (if it arrives) then you will still lose. You are relying entirely on his honesty to cancel the claim if he gets the goods.
As for the Royal mail, do you have a full certificate of posting? If so after 15 working days you need to get a form from the Post office, or download one and fill it all in. You will need a print out of the auction page plus a print out of the paypal page where you have refunded the buyer. Send it all in together with your COP (keep copies as quite a few go astray!) and then after approximately 2-3 weeks RM should issue a refund for item cost plus actual postage paid.

The refund is issued by cheque if it is over about £4, if less than that they usually just send a book of 1st class stamps that is worth £4.32.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Also, yes the postage charge was £3 for a bottle of pefume, the buyr has now 'advised' me in an email i dont have a leg to stand on with the postal service and that i should really use recorded delivery on expensive items. Ok when i posted it the lady asked me if it cost less than £34 i think it was and i said yes and she advised me 2nd class post!
This is really getting to me now i honestly dont know what to do.
your asking the po what service to use
not how to protect yourself from a paypal dispute
two different things0 -

Did you tell the post office lady it was a bottle of perfume?
Most perfumes and aftershaves are classed as flammable, so cannot be claimed from the RM if lost or damaged.

So looks like you might lose out on this one.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Has a matter of interest, do you think he is being honest saying it didn't arrive. Sorry, just playing the devils advocate0

Since ebay have changed the feedback it's very difficult to know true genuine history. Buyers can no longer receive negative or neutral feedback from sellers.
So what does a seller do if their buyer has caused problems, the seller won't leave feedback so it always looks like the buyer has a 100% record.0 -
Yeah I agree looks like I have lost out on this, I didn't know about the RM's policy on perfumes etc. I think the buyer knows this they have left negative feedback for others similar items saying they did not arrive but I suppose I can't assume anything.
I'll just let the paypal dispute run it's course but if I lose out fair enough I will not be this stupid again when it comes to listing items it has been the first dispute I have had with my selling history since I started on ebay.
It's actually put me off selling anything else on ebay since there seem to be so many scammers out there now than whe i started.0 -
There may be a sweet smelling postman walking around.0
