  • OK I have checked the claim which has been opened on my paypal account, and from what it says noting is going to be done about refunding until after 7 days, so its like something on hold. Have had further emails from the buyer, basically they have opened the dispute because they think its strange for 2nd class to take so long. I can understand that.
I guess i just have to see what happens this week i'll let you know how it all goes.

Thankyou for the advice you have really helped a worried person.

A week for 2nd class is not at all odd, I still think your buyer is being hasty. My son received a 2nd class small packet yesterday that was posted on the 2nd January.

isn't there a difference in time for 2nd class post and 2nd class parcel post? if the item is large then it would have been posted in the latter and therefore dont RM's delivery take no longer than 7 working days?

i think your buyer is ridiculous btw

Can't blame the buyer for expecting quick delivery when he's been charged £4 on a £12 item

I have just received a 2nd class recorded item that was sent on 15/12/08  nearly every 2nd class ebay item I get seems to take about 2 weeks to arrive! I was allowing for xmas and new year which is why I held off doing a Paypal claim which i was coincidentally going to do today and its turned up. This particular item was left down the sorting office, no card was left for me and my regular postie says he thinks it was just left there and no delivery attempted. So although its taken 4 weeks to arrive it wasnt the sellers fault.

I think their parcel will turn up but like the others have said its a trust issue now whether the buyer denies it arriving and gets a refund anyway.

Those are two different services. There is second class post (which can include quite heavy parcels) or there is parcel post. As the OP only paid £3 for postage it isn't enough for parcel post so must be standard post.

Anyone who buys something time critical on eBay without contacting the seller first is an idiot.

Doesn't help the situation , just spreading joy this afternoon :)

OK the buyer has now opened a dispute with me on paypal with this refund request. I am totally and utterly lost as to what to do. Shall I respond to their dispute via paypal now? I shouldn't escalate this at this point because they are still willing to accept the item if it arrives?
Someone said earlier that sellers have 7 days to post out an item, is this written down anywhere?

Also, yes the postage charge was £3 for a bottle of pefume, the buyr has now 'advised' me in an email i dont have a leg to stand on with the postal service and that i should really use recorded delivery on expensive items. Ok when i posted it the lady asked me if it cost less than £34 i think it was and i said yes and she advised me 2nd class post!

This is really getting to me now i honestly dont know what to do.

Not much you can do really except wait and see if it turns up in the next week or so. You'll lose the paypal dispute as you haven't proof of receipt so it depends if she's scamming you as to whether you refund now or when paypal do it for you.
Best just leave it to her and paypal now and follow what they ask you to do in the hope it a) reachs her b) she admits she's received it and closes the dispute
