Could you not just use the £5 credit that they are giving you for free and then throw the sim away if you do not want to change.0 -

Great offer :T .. I ordered a sim card last night so that I can port my Orange contract number to it (my 12 months contract finished in October but I can't get any good tariffs when upgrading), then port back to a "new customer" Orange contract.0

Virgin charge 10p a minute to call 0845 numbers.15p to call 0844 and 0870 /0871 numbers .
So if you ordered 2 thats approx 66 free minutes of intl calls at 15p a minute using a 0870/0871 dial through number.Or 100 minutes if you use 0845.
Or even 66 free x-net mobile calls using an 0871 access number.

I recently got my first mobile phone (Virgin) so am still feeling my way round them, so to speak. This probably sounds a daft question - I sent off for one of these free sim cards so when it arrives do I take out the one that's already in the phone, put the free one in, get the £5 credit put on, take it out and put the old one back in? As simple as that?0 -
Not exactly as you would need to use the £5 credit via the new sim, the credit is on the sim, not the phone
but yes, once you have used the £5 on calls, texts you could put back your old sim.0 -
So I will have another phone number when I put the new sim card in?0

As previous poster said, inconvenient!0
