House Viewing - can I take photos?
Comments
-
We're in the middle of buying and I took photos in some of the houses. A couple were empty ones. We took photos (with permission) in vacant houses, and also in some occupied ones. Mainly of the kitchen, bathroom, fuse box, boiler and garden. Things that mattered to us and might need money spending on. Generally the estate agent's details don't include photos of these rooms/garden unless they're real selling points and therefore stunning. I did feel very cheeky asking, and I would've been a bit uncomfortable about someone taking photos in my house.
When we went back for a second viewing on the house we had put an offer in on, I asked if I could take photos (it was occupied by tenants), and was allowed. But then, we were clearly serious about the house already. You might as well ask, I suppose.0 -
Photos? I'll be shooting my viewings on video0

If I thought it would sell the house I'd do a video and digi photos myself for the viewers !.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Dh took video footage of rental properties for me (with comedy commentary) as I was not able to view with him. Helped enormously - I was able to ok his decision from 200 miles away, and did not see our house until we moved in. it was absolutely fine and the place we moved into was great and exactly as I imagine it from the video.0

I viewed and made an immediate full asking price offer on the house I bought. Once things were underway I asked if I could go back for a 2nd viewing and take pics, I took over 70.
When I sold it, my buyers visited about half a dozen times, then when we'd finally agreed a price, they made one last appointment to come and measure up/take pics.0 -
Get a copy of the floor plan. Mark on radiators, windows, light switches, sockets, and "issues"0

We've been taking photos of the vacant properties we have been viewing. Mainly to remember (1) what we would need to fix before we moved if we buy and (2) where the doors, radiators and sockets are, so we could easily know where we could put furniture. The EA didn't mind, as long as we didn't get her in the photos (she was having a bad hair day)I refuse to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent:rolleyes:0

Take tape measure, torch and ladder to stick your head in the loft (the last one was what that martin bloke said from Homes under the hammer)0

Its a good idea to take pics especially if it is run down and needs a lot of work, as often I forget later on whether it is possible to make a change to a particular room e.g. postion of chimmeny breasts, boiler etc. I asked one estate agent and she said no problem. But I would always ask first though.0
