Yes I do read Terms and Conditions.

And I have got something for nothing from Credit Cards for 10 years thankyou ;)

then you are obviously one of the smart ones......unlike the many people that come on here complaining they are now in debt because they didn't read the T&C

as I said it really is that simple

so what your saying is you want free credit then even when you KNOW when that FREE period is going to finish you also want a good rate AFTER that free credit

and people wonder why banks have no money......mmmmm

You do realize that the whole reason the country is in this mess is because people aren't/can't pay back their debts don't you....

And i'm about as far away from the bank industry as you can get thank you....I just don't spend above my means...sorry for being aware of the T&C of credit sorry for being pretty damn good with my money

Cat - a lot of us on these boards not only want 0% constantly on our credit cards, we've been getting them, and really hope to continue getting them. Otherwise we wouldn't be stoozing, would we?

The banks don't make money from the likes of me who do this, they make their money from the people who spend on their cards, and for whom they can charge interest rates. Of course, they need people to repay their debts, but they want the ones who are being charged interest rates.

I really feel for the OP, I think they've been treated appallingly.

But its quite clear in the T&C......or do you not read them???

Yes it is....but people are foolish to think you get something for nothing

People may be foolish but the lenders have also been foolish to lend so irresponsibly for so long.

Your tone is quite sanctimonious, don't be surprised when people react to that

You are good with your money - why not try and help other people get to that lightbulb moment and start changing their ways, instead of alienating them from somewhere like MSE which could be just the influence they need?!!!!

Some people don`t wonder why the banks have no money. It`s not becauase they reduced interest charges to 0%. Imho they did that to get people to use their cards before they banged up the ir to something stupid like 20 or 30%. With the boe rate now at 1.5% the card companies could easily afford much lower rates.

Your comments regarding why the banks are in trouble

"You do realize that the whole reason the country is in this mess is because people aren't/can't pay back their debts don't you...."

is simplistic to the extreme. I am in the wholesale game and we allow lines of credit. We try to make sure our customers can pay their bills. Something the banks clearly have failed at. For the last decade they have been handing out money like it is going out of style against a climate of low wage inflation and by and large have been screwing people on irs.

Simply, the banks have lent to people who have been high risk, parcelled up the debt in some mumbo jumbo bond and sold it on. They have been rumbled, got scared and are now afraid to lend to each other (libor).

My tone?? because I'm straight to the point people don't like it......yes I'm sorry the OP has been caught out but why blame the CC companies.....If you can't be bothered to read T&C then you only have yourself to blame

Banks like any other company are after one thing and thats money.....and they will go after the most easiest way to get it and that are the people who can't take 5 mins out of their lives to read through the Doc's

Am I not the one that is helping them?? fine telling someone your feeling sorry for them may make them feel better for a while....but pointing out the mistake so they can learn from it will be far more beneficial...will it not??

Banks are out to rip you off any chance they get...especially now.

As a young lad I got caught out....and never will again

Hang on you have just said this

" Banks are out to rip you off any chance they get...especially now. "

    But before you said this

"You do realize that the whole reason the country is in this mess is because people aren't/can't pay back their debts don't you...."

So they rip you off. Yes , I guess they do!

As I said to you, I do read the Terms and Conditions.

Who is it precisely that you think has not read their Terms and Conditions ?

    and whats wrong with it

Bank rip you off by giving you 0% interest then at the end of it originally you think its 6% but they bang it up to 30% so you can't pay it back

so bank ripped you off and you can't pay it back??

If you can't get credit then you're going to have to bite the bullet and pay off the debt asap. Try to cut your expenditure and increase your income. You can also put the £3700 you've saved for your wedding against the amount owed.

I have paid for the venue and deposits on other stuff so I dont have it.

  • We are just looking into some strange entries in the credit report i got today,i.e 3 second mortgages which we dont have, then we may be able to get a better deal.I guess the rate has zoomed up because they think we have tons of debt which we dont.
