Im going to try this one today as it sounds yummy.

You can also add some roughly crushed maltesers to the mixture for extra yum!

  • These are great for kids, lunch boxes or just a sweet but healthy snack. VERY easy to make, ensure you and the family are getting EFAs and are a fraction of the price of rubbish 'health' (NOT) bars. These are also full of slow-releasing carbs.

    Chewy seed health bars

    200g butter
    200g golden syrup
    300g porridge oats
    50g pumpkin seeds
    50g sunflower seeds
    50g dessicated coconut
    50g plain flour
    150g brown sugar
    150g chopped dried apricots
    125g peanut butter (crunchy)
    1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt butter and syrup in a saucepan. Add all remaining ingredients into a mixing bowl and pour in melted butter and syrup. Combine thoroughly. Pour onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Cook for 20-25 minutes in pre-heated 160C oven. Cut into pieces and allow to cool before removing, else they break up.

You can also vary the seeds and fruit used to any of your choice. Try prunes, sultanas, sesame seeds, etc.

    Hi ellie,

We have an older thread on tray bakes that might help you so I'll merge your thread with it as it helps to keep all the recipes together.

This recent thread might give you some ideas too:

A friend of mine had a traybake tin that had a slider on it that you could drag underneath the bottom of the whole tray to loosen the cake - haven't found one yet. Any ideas?

could line tin with foil.Makes it easy to remove.
I made a huge chocolate sponge cake out of two baking tins full of chocolate sponge :-)

or line with Teflon Non stick cooking mat...as suggested to me 2 weeks ago. I bought one in Morrisons last week at £1.99 and used it yesterday under my flapjacks, that always stick. Hey presto and they came out so easily. You then just wash/wipe and use again next time...an absolute miracle, I think
