Traybakes are just an easy way to produce cakes. They are very good for families and children and making lots of things quickly, putting any topping on, like grating chocolate over it as soon as it comes out of th oven and is still hot especially flapjack and then spreading it with a knife and cutting them into squares. Its the sort of thing you do when it is going to be eaten quickly when you have a load of kids round. Nearly every ckae type recipe can be adapted to a traybake, it cuts out the fiddly bits

Arrrrggghhh!! They're all sold out. I need one of these desperately because all I have is a square cake tin and a swiss roll tray which is too shallow. Does anyone know anywhere else I can get one of these from?

Mary Berry is a good cook book author on traybakes. Most department stores will sell tray bake tins. Like with all cake tins,it is best to get a decent one that won`t buckle.

Just looked up the book - it is Mary Berry`s Ultimate Cake Book.

A friend of mine had a traybake tin that had a slider on it that you could drag underneath the bottom of the whole tray to loosen the cake - haven't found one yet. Any ideas?

 mary berry cakes are lush i've made the chocolate traybake and if you are really lucky sometimes it goes slightly wrong and you get a really soft and chewy centre bit. try her chocolate fudge topping (obscene) forget the cake just eat the topping (not for the faint hearted extreme choccie gorgeousness) I'm drouling :p
