Can anyone help me to get rid of Kerio ? I have tried without success to update Kerio (Fran says always check for updates) and each time it tells me that my InstallShield is out of date, When I try to download an up to date InstallShield from Microsoft, I am told "access is denied". So I decided I would dump Kerio and go to ZoneAlarm, but I cannot delete the Kerio. When I go into Add/Remove Programs and click on Kerio, I just get the same message that my Install Shield is out of date. I have been going round in circles with this and as I am not a "techie", I need help.
IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE PLEASE ???"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Ooooops! Think you just happened to post it when everyone interested had read the postings and the debate was dying out... sure no offence was intended.
I see you've re-posted and I'm sure you'll get loadsa good advice. Presumably, if you can download the InstalShield thing (or whatever its called) then that solves the problem and you won't need to un-instal? ('Cos you'll be able to update?). Having said that, I think Zone Alarm is generally rated above Kerio, but don't tell any other Kerio users I said that!0 -

Sorry, I know you've tried a few things without success and I've forgotten what you've done already - has anyone suggested re-installing Kerio 'over the top' (and then un-installing, if you want to). Not sure this will work, but don't think it can do any harm.
Other than that, I think it's possible to un-install things 'manually', but that's real rocket science to me.0 -

PROBLEM SOLVED THANKS TO STARTING ANOTHER POST
Not that I advocate this as one often sees the same subject in 2 or 3 different posts, but thanks to replies on "HOW TO DELETE KERIO AND INSTALL ANOTHER FIREWALL I have managed to solve the problem as follows:-
Re-booting did not help, but downloading Kerio again over the existing version DID ! Well, after a while anyway. Once again it stated that my InstallShield engine was out of date, but I checked the file version of the download and then downloaded the InstallShield again and hey presto! this time it all worked ! So I still have Kerio and I have the updated version, so I will live with that ! Boy oh Boy, one can get into all sorts of problems if you do no know what you are doing! Thanks to the MSE Chat Forum and the contributors !!! at least one of my worries are over"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
