We paid the cheques but we charged you £35 per item because you used the banks' money to pay them. I think you need to read Martin's Guide to Reclaiming.

So, you did not have any money in your account and used twelve times (over what period of time?) your cheque card to force the bank to pay monies, you did not have.

I only hope the bank will confiscate the card for good. In most countries this is a criminal offence, and so it should be.
  • i had money going into my account on 24th dec but because the processing bank had technical problems it didnt reach my account until 9th jan. now if it had gone in before the 5th jan i would have been fine i informed natwest many times that i had bacs payments coming into my account on 24th dec, she said if they sent it on 24th it would be in your bank by the 30th dec, but because my cash was late going in ive got all these charges, you can see on my statement that the company processed the payment into my bank on 24th dec but didnt go into my account until 9th jan.

im new to this site dont think i fully explained the situation first time sorry

    many thanks
  • i do believe this is under section account misuse so i do believe i can claim back these charges

yes, you can. However, there is a stay on all bank charge claims until there is a firm decision. You can get the ball rolling with the template letters though.

Ok, in theory you should not of wrote those cheques without haveing the money in the bank to account for them, but atthe end of the day if everyone was honest a gd 75% of us have all done it at one stage or another.

Re ur money going in, does it always go in a set day every month, it might be worth reringing Natwest, explaining that yes u wrote the cheques but as you get paid on xx of each month (make sure you have the correct figures wrote down), as the money never went through until xx date, bacs normally take (i think 3 to 7 days), so if got processed on 24th Dec, take out (25th, 26th, 27th, 28th - xmas),29th, 30th, 31st, (only 3 days,) take out 1st, 3rd + 4th jan) busibess day 2nd Jan (day 4) 5th jan - only makes it day 5 business terms.

That u didnt realise with xmas etc, the mioney would take so long to clear, could they remove some of the charges?
Basically unless its financial hardship, you can only go as far as writing in about your charges, theres a guide on here of Martins.

I'm not haveing a go, please don't be offended, but it seems odd to me that u manages to get through 12 cheques s quick?
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

????? There are extra holidays at Christmas? Who'd've thunk:confused:!

If you do not have cleared funds to pay the cheque you should not be writing it. As another mentioned, this is a criminal offence in any decent country.
  • no they wernrt any cheques its what i spent in shops over xmas of my debit card.

Who was due to put the money back in your account? You could give claiming the charges back from them a go.
