Have you tried ringing the bank and asking why they authorised 12 debit card payments if there wasn't any money in your account. I bank with halifax and i know if i go and buy petrol from asda or tesco at there quick pay pumps then they only take a £1 to authorise the payment, so i can fill up to £70 but only have a couple of pounds in the bank, i think clarks do the same, but never heard of 12 difference outlets doing this.xxxsukeyxxx wrote: »no they wernrt any cheques its what i spent in shops over xmas of my debit card.Started slimming world 4th November 2010

yeh i said they said the money was in the account at the time, natwest wernt very helpful at all, all my charges came out on the 7th and i got paid on the 8th for the sake of one day ive got 420 in charges, i did phone natwest helpline on the 5th explaining that i had bacs payment to come into my account and to see if she could check where it was but because of a technical error at people putting payment in my account, however she did write a note on my account as to not consider putting charges on as bacs payment late into my account.0

Don;t forget to mention the FSA Waiver on Bank Charges(its on my signature). You may be able to claim financial hardship and on PAGE 11 I suspect the OP is ideal forBurlesque_Babe wrote: »yes, you can. However, there is a stay on all bank charge claims until there is a firm decision. You can get the ball rolling with the template letters though.0 -
I understand that the availability of funds could have been confusing over the xmas period etc. but disagree that you should try and reclaim your charges under the financial hardship criteria as this should only be used of GENUINE cases of financial hardship and not for every single person trying to claim charges back.0

I would advise ignoring the above post by orange26 as he/she seems to be undergoing a campaign on every thread here against everybody trying to reclaim charges.0

How do you know which person is or is not capable of claiming for financial hardship. I would suggest that many in the debt forums may well be eligible. Do you think that the bank does not require proof of GENUINE financial hardship?I understand that the availability of funds could have been confusing over the xmas period etc. but disagree that you should try and reclaim your charges under the financial hardship criteria as this should only be used of GENUINE cases of financial hardship and not for every single person trying to claim charges back.
I suggest the financial hardship route but do not say that either (a) that a refund will be given or (b) that anyone is in hardship. Without sitting down with someone and going through their income and expenditure and finding about any arrears it would be difficult to guess. However, the FSA Waiver on Bank Charges allows this to be given.0
