Parked in Restricted Area in Restricted Times

I have just recieved a PCN for a £100 fine for parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours and just wondering if there is anybioby who has some advice ore one of those template letters that are mentioned on the internet ?

Here is my story :

I was lost and in an area that I did not know.

I was looking for Jessops in 18 church street but I pulled up and I was a grocery shop and I was a bit bit baffled so I called the shop and he told me I was in the wrong area and was supposed to be in Enfield !!
I was stopped for two minutes - I called them to say that it was unfair as I was lost and I could not see any signs in the 2 mins I was there to say I am in a restricted area. If I got out of the car and had a look for signs I might have been there a lot longer and would have more chance of getting a ticket !!!

I pulled away and 30 mins later I purchased my camera in 18 Church St Enfield.

I have a receipt of the time in Jessops in Enfield

I think its harsh to get a ticket and £50 fine for a 2min lost call !!

Do you think I will have any grounds to appeal ? I have written as it's so annoying and un just ?

Apparently you get 20 mins for unloading or loading but I was not doing either - no minutes for being lost !!

Thanks and any advice would be great Steve

    some basic info missing?

Who actually issued the PCN then - and how?

    Single or double yellow?

  • Single Yellow Line

    PCN from Enfield Council

I was simply lost and was at wrong 18 church st - The food stall did not look like Jessops

    Thanks
  • I simply made a quick call to Jessops aand they said i should be in Enfield not Edmonton - I did not see any sign saying anything was in force, genuine 2-3 min mistake for £50 not very nice these people.

Most single yellow lines prohibit parking Monday - Saturday daytime hours. As I presume it was Monday - Saturday daytime, what possible reason do you have for thinking it was OK to park there?

So the markings on the road weren't sufficient clue that parking restrictions of some sort were in place?

And you have passed a driving test and consider yourself a fit driver?

YOU HAVE JUST ADMITTED THAT YOU SAW THE SINGLE YELLOW LINE. Did you think it was just painted there to make the street look pretty?

What the hell do you think that was for? I seriously suggest that you buy a copy of the Highway Code and actually read it as you obviously are completely oblivious to basic motoring law.

NOTE THE PART BELOW WHICH SAYS ABOUT NOT EVEN WAITING.

Rule 238: You MUST NOT wait or park on yellow lines during the times of operation shown on nearby time plates (or zone entry signs if in a Controlled Parking Zone) – see 'Information signs' and 'Road markings'. Double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time even if there are no upright signs.
    Road Markings.

    Information Signs

Not very nice these people? Not very nice having to share the roads with people who don't even have a basic grasp of driving.

  • I wasn't delirabltley parked up to wait or do anything I simply pulled over and was baffled to find a grocer shop rather than Jessops !

I was stopped and car was idle made a quick phone call to find i was in wrong area and moved on - oh well seems like these parking cameras have got one over on me for making a human error.

I know you think I'm being unhelpful, but if it HAD been Jessops you'd have had to park elsewhere to visit the shop. So why didn't you do that, before walking to the shop to find out whether or not it was Jessops or where Jessops was?
  • Because the OP is quite frankly completely bereft of any level of common sense that you or I would expect from an individual.

When my parents relocated their business, the nearest parking was 30 yards away. People used to come into the shop and complain they'd had to walk that far. Like plattste, they seem to see it as some right to be able to park directly outside the shop.

  • No you are not being un-helpful -

I didn't even get out of the car - I drove along the road and saw the shop numbers and got to number 15 and went - huh thats strange so I stopped checked my A to Z and and called the shop !! Maybe next time I will stop in the middle of the road put me hazards on and check my A to Z at least I wouldn't have got a fne for that,!!

Thats the annoying thing I did not try to break any rules - I was more baffled as number 15 was a grocer shop !!

Maybe I should buy me a TOM TOM !!
