I bought a new washing machine from comets (big mistake) got it home and it is faulty will they exchange it? the Answer is no "we must have our service dept examine it first" but it's only 29 hours old. they will not budge on this issue. They have my money I have a duff product. Trying to contact the Comet system/service dept is a joke, engineer did not turn up on day specified, I spent a whole day waiting in for them. I am, as I type this rant trying to contact their service center on the phone it has taken 53 mins so far. I have never had such poor service ever. Comets head office are next to useless.
I should have gone to John Lewis or Curry's , Comets will never ever get any of my custom again.
Eventually I am informed that the service appointment was changed and I was informed,,,,, yeah right I was

We bought a lcd tv from comet which was broken, so we contacted toshiba(the manufacturer) to see if they could fix the problem(the screen kept on going blurred about 1 every 20mins lasting for about 30seconds), they said it can't be fixed so take it back to comet and get it exchanged, they gave us a product numbers for exchanging it.
So before we took it back we wanted to make sure that another tv was instock - so whilst out shopping we called in at comet who told us "NO it doesn't work like that we have to have an engineer comeout decide if it is faulty and then they give you a returns note and you can bring it back".
So they engineer came out(actually on the right day at the right time) he walks in hands my husband the returns note - doesn't even look at the tv.
So we rang the store to find out if they had the same tv in to exchange it - they said "its been discontinued" - wouldn't mind but it was only 2weeks old the tv, so we tried to get a different one but there was never any instock that weren't around £300-£400 more than we paid or they had little tv's in.
So we left it until after christmas and i rang again to see if they had any instock, the call centre put me through to the supposidly right shop - which it wasne't(wanted stockport - they put me through to southport) the shop told me that they couldn't put me back to the call centre and to ring them again. Did this three times and three times they put me thorough to the wrong shop. So i rang their complaints dept who tried the shop told me the line was busy and that they would get someone to ring me back - well two weeks on i'm still waiting for the phone call.
We ended up taking it back getting a refund and i bought a Sony Bravia from Amazon for about £30.00 more than i paid for the toshiba - and with next day delivery.
that will be the last time i buy anything from comet.0 -

Just tell them that you are rejecting the product as is your right under the Sale Of Good Act. Get your money back and go to retailer who wishes to stay in business in this recession. If they say no, get in touch with trading standards or consumer direct

I bought a washing machine this morning - got it home but, in order to pass its cable through a small hole in the work surface, I had to cut off the moulded plug and then fit a different plug. The machine just sits there with no sign of life. I have 3 ways of checking that power is going down the cable - it is.
Comet (after 30mins on the phone - I was paying) - say I have invalidated the warrenty.
They gave me a phone number for a Bosch engineer - these new people consider the machine to be still under guarantee and are coming to check it next Monday.
Don't expect sensible or reasonable responses from Comet.
Don't keep them in business.

Alternatively, don't accept anything they say as legally factual and challenge it through consumer direct.0

we ordered an upgrade to sky hd and multiroom through comet and now after 3 weeks of waiting sky sent a text to say there has been a problem with the order- problem being they have no order apparently, all they know there is something from a store (they dont know which) relating to our number.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then

before you cut the plug could you not have plugged it into another socket which didnt require no cutting off of plugs0 -
I had the same problem as the OP but with a dishwasher. When I called trading standards, they said that there was an obligation on us to be 'reasonable' and allow comet to send out an engineer before we could claim the right to an exchange or refund. This may or may not be correct, but I will never use comet again either way...0

I'm no apologist for Comet but we bought a dishwasher just before Christmas, took it home, unwrapped it and it was obvious it had been dropped. There were bits of plastic broken off and one side was loose and dented.
Called Comet immediately, who said bring it back in the morning which we did. They immediately ordered us a replacement as they had no more in stock which we picked up 48 hours later. Can't really ask for more. Maybe we were lucky? Don't know but I will certainly use them again.0 -
What has Mickey Mouse done to upset you?! He's a clever guy and should not be compared to Comet! You'll have my Mickey mad wife and daughter after you if they find out!!! :rolleyes:0

Comet do have the right to have it inspected tho, alot of people try it on which has knacked it up for genuine people.0
