    for you.
    Hotpoint WMF 540, Aquarius
fault, the wash cycle went on for far to long, with long periods of a chug, chug, pump noise, when 1 minute was showing on the digital timer there was appox 15-20 mins of inactivity except for the chug chug chug of the pump, this is when it was switched off, 1 hour later I switched it back on and it started it's spin cycle and finished the wash. Concerned that this is an intermittent fault.I decided to reject it as not fit for purpose having given it a good chance to behave, it had to go.

letbehonest thank you for your reply it will help a lot and will let my parents know as they know more details. But I do know we have had the same chug chug noise from the pump, and when the clothes came out of the washer after the cycle they were still soggy wet. I'm not sure which model my mam brought, although I think I will get the model number off my mam to do a bit of research on other forums to see if it a common fault.

Calm down, your post wasn't clear, you could've been talking about a washer/dryer as I would expect one to be surprised if their clothes came out of that wet. Wet covers quite a large range from a bit damp to totally sodden.
So yeah, more descriptive words do make your problem clearer.

stellastar, sorry if I offended you, but there are way to many trolls (which you may not be!) on this forum who like to 'nit-pick' with spellings, descriptions, etc. Unfortunately I just thought you were trying to be clever, as in my opinion I thought my post was clear enough as clothes tend to come out of washing machines 'damp' wet than 'soggy' wet. Also to be honest if I meant a washer/dryer I would have said that.
  • As I said original post,,,,,,,,,,,,What a bunch of IDIOTS

  • Closing this saga, after two letters of complaint, the last being me having the last word I received a cheque for £20 as compo for "the engineer not turning up on agreed day", a gesture of good will, mind you I did send them a link to this site with reference to Comet customer indifference.

I'm no apologist for Comet but we bought a dishwasher just before Christmas, took it home, unwrapped it and it was obvious it had been dropped. There were bits of plastic broken off and one side was loose and dented.

Called Comet immediately, who said bring it back in the morning which we did. They immediately ordered us a replacement as they had no more in stock which we picked up 48 hours later. Can't really ask for more. Maybe we were lucky? Don't know but I will certainly use them again.

Hang on. You went to the store ONCE to buy it. THEN you went back again (TWICE now) to return the faulty one. Then you went back again (THIRDtime) to collect a replacement because THEY didn't have it in stock?????????

That's 3 trips for ONE appliance and you're grateful!

I'd ahve wanted it collecting and the new one delivering for free. No wonder the country is in the state it is with people accepting shoddy service like that! Unless you happen to live next door to the bl**dy store that is!!!

Some people prefer to collect because they'll usually get it faster. 48 hours to collect, or 5 days for delivery.
  • I for one shall never shop with comet again after the complete farce i had with them before christmas. I'd ordered the xbox 360 20Gb as seen on tv deal which came with the entertainment pack (2 games plus an extra wireless controller). I had tried to order it online but it would not let me do it for home delivery, although it was advertised as being able to be home delivered on the website. The closest comet with it in stock was in the next city.

I therefore ordered it over the phone - i was on hold for excess of 50 mins!! I told the sales person what I wanted, offered to give her the product code, but she said she knew what the deal was (she said yeah the one with the games). I noticed online 10 mins after ordering that the xbox 360 20Gb on its own was the same price as the deal, so decided to phone up to check she had in actual fact ordered the right one - again i had to old for excess of 50 miins and was then told no you have not had the deal ordered, so i requested for it to be changed and was told it had been changed and my deluvery date was reconfimed.

The delivery date comes and goes (a tues) and no xbox turns up, so i ring again the next day - only to be told there seemed to be some sort of error and it wasn't dispatched but would be and would arrive the following day and my delivery charge be refunded. This wed i also recieved my receipt - but on it was only the xbox 360 20Gb and no mention of the deal or entertainment pack, therfore, i rang them again the same day and asked for my order to be checked to ensure the deal was infact the one that was being delivered to be told yes it definately is the deal, there is a note on the system blah blah. Thursday comes and an xbox 360 arrives - you guessed it no entertainment pack... so i'm rather peeved by this point and phone them for a fith time (all at my expense may i add) - i request to speak to a manger who informs me that i did not order the deal and made out i was lying, after further pressing she denied their being a note on my order to say the sales assistant had ordered the wrong one and that my order had not been corrected. I asked for the deal to be sent out to me only to be told its now out of stock and the deal is only while stocks last - yes but i ordered it when it was IN stock. I knew (from looking online) that they had the entertainment pack separately in stock and asked for this to be sent to me - she told me that no they would not do this as the offer was only while stocks last! I was only offered a refund which would be processed immediately though could take 3-5 working days and was told the xbox would be collected - 3 days later i receive a phonecall from comet asking if i still wanted my refund as it was about to be processed (as such would take a further 3-5 working days) - so once again i had been lied to, this time by management! In the end I had to take it to comet myself to get a refund as that would be quicker and i needed the money to buy another deal in time for christmas as it was to be a present.

Sorry for such a long post, but as you can see it was a complete farce!

Why oh why did i not just read this bit before i went into Comet to buy a printer :(
Had a bunch of pimply faced 'managers' more like t***s, telling me my faulty printer would have to be seen by their engineers & then Epson engineers for repairs, which would take 14 days!!!, no refund would be offered!.
I tried to stand my ground, it took 3 managers to get me out of there :(, i phoned headoffice, what a bunch of sad losers, to no avail. Now i have a crappy printer (Still in warranty) which i have to lug about to organise repairs :(.
I don't know what else to do apart from comply with these idiots requests, Comet if you are reading this, judging by how empty the store was, i hope you guys go down in this recession
Ok rant over & before i get some troll going on & on about this & that DON'T, go s*** on somebody else's parade!!
Any advice is much appreciated :o

I bought a wifi printer, the wifi failed first, then the whole printer(even though its plugged in), though its installed correctly. There is a 'communication' error all the time :(, before anyone asks, yes! its been checked out by Dell, & 2 other 'puter experts, no joy :(
