http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-unhappiness/27492-am-very-fed-up-skys-unfair-pricing.html.
In Dec-Jan I have been having a row trying to negotiate a better deal with Sky as they offered customers a deal to take up sky movies for an extra £4.00 for the december period. Instead of this I got a huge bill for the period of some £87.00. This is extortionate and £50.00 more than the proper old rate for 5 mixes and two movie channels. Sky have not appologised and to be honest I have had to cancel and write a strong letter to which I have had no answer! My partner has also tried to resolve the matter as by now I am fairly anoyed and Sky hang up the phone on her when she calls! is this Skys new customer service?
I have now found out that my friends have stated using sky as they had been offered a fantastic sky package for a year of Sky Workd at 1/2 the monthly cost. This according to sky is because they are a new customer. The Sky World package seems to consist of 5 mixes 2 movie mixes and the sports channels with a free sky+ box and installation. Now I am starting to realise where money has gone and have still not receieved a refund. I do feal this is unfair and would like to know what everyone else thinks
I started a POLL on skys own forums and have not managed to get a truely representative poll on it from Skys customers as the only people that have voted on the site appear to be sky beta testers and moderators.
I would be grateful if you have an opinion on skys pricing that you Google "Skys Unfair" and place your own vote.

New customers get better deals 90% of the time - that's what entices them to take up the service. It's not fair on existing customers, but companies don't have to try as hard to keep a customer as gain a new one. It's human nature.
If your monthly sub is £29 then it will cost you £87 for a 3 month period. Incidentally, when I asked Sky to cancel my film channels they offered to let me keep them for £3 a month (saving £13) for a short period.0 -
I realise that new sky users need an enticement as in 12 months I will be probably taking one up myself unless my letter gets some serious answers and results. shame its going to cost Sky £837 for me to do this as theyere 1/2 price deal if its stil active will net me another Sky+ box free instalation service at 1/2 price saving more than £150.00 per anum. Put this together with the package I had before leaving which was £36.50 p.c.m you can easily see they just lost (£199+50 +£150+36.50*12) = £837.00 in two years time if i sign back up!
The only thing I have had so far IS INSULTS from sky on the www.skyuser.co.uk website. when I raised my problems with them on here I found a very biased opinion . I hope everyone will vote on the poll as I really want to know what people think not just my fealings this is why i started the poll up. I think if you search for the article on google like i suggested you will be amazed that this is their new way of responding to customers. bearing mind I have raised this with managers at Sky as well.
I am very disapointed with their service0 -
I can't see how sky "lose" anything. Let's say after your first year you have covered the cost of the equipment so walk away. At this point they have no further costs or income either way.
To rejoin, would cost them a box (at their price, not retail) and the engineer minus what they charge you - if anything. You will then be paying them a monthly sub of £36.50, netting them another £438 - more than enough to cover the box.0 -
To be honest I think I would be more concerned as to why the bill was so much higher than anticipated.
As has already been mentioned, Sky are not the only company to offer new customers better deals than existing customers - in fact I have deliberately set up new policies with the same company when renewing house and car insurnace for this very reason - in fact when I was asked once why I simply hadn't renewed I told them that had they offered me the new customer price instead of the inflated renewal price then I would have done that.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.

SKY customer service are an absolute joke, they are rude, idiotic, incompetent and incapable of carrying out most simple tasks.
Their 'helpline' is about the biggest joke going!!!"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

I half agree. Their outsourced call centre IMHO is ridiculous and I have ended up wanting to through the box out of the window ! However, their UK call centre staff have always been polite and helpful0 -
Sky gave me a great offer twice in a row - 1 mix for £3 for 3 months. Quite happy with that.0

I totally agree with the comments regarding customer support they are very rude and thier managers are very unsympathetic dont think everyone understood my breakdown for thier losses. Have been with sky over 2 years so have already paid for all of my boxes an never recieved an offer from them

Please be aware its nothing to do with this site its on the sky user site. You also do not need to be logged in to vote.0 -
Probably not much help to you, but I was going to cancel my sky movies sub for economies sake yesterday and the (very nice and helpful scottish) bloke said he could give me a deal whereby I could have them for the next 3 months for £3 per month! I was genuinely going to cancel, not calling to complain, so maybe if you pretend you're going to cancel and are fine with that, they may make you an offer?0
