I agree with jenny wren, they do warm up on the outside but not enough to burn yourself, not even uncomfortable to touch.

The thing with GHDs is this........it's just a name, a good name granted but are they really the best that's out there? I think not! As I said in an earlier post, my eldest bought herself pink ones and these are her second pair or GHds, she got GHDs(which are now broken  ) when they first came out and at that time they probably were the best on the market but other makes have upped their game and some makes are now equal if not better imo. I can understand people wanting GHDs, its just like UGG boots, some people have to have them no matter what and those UGG style boots in the shops will not do

yep, same as those ubiquitous Paul's Boutique jackets...and the tracksuit MUST be Juicy not some market rip off!

The proper name for this is "conspicuous consumption", and yes, I buy into it every time:D

....(-though would not be seen dead in Juicy Couture or Pauls Boutique!)

A lot of people I know use THIS website for GHDs. Reputable company and not too expensive.
  • my sister got some for a really good price but when they arrived they were american (ie 2 prong plug) and supposedly even when you put this into a adapter they still dont heat up properly:confused: ( i can't say if thats true as havent tried them) she managed to get a refund ok but think she was just very lucky.

my real ghds (reputable supplier - lookfantastic.com) have a plug that can be american or uk... its really clever... theres like an adaptor attached, sorry its upstairs and i cant see it from here

  • I mailed ghd (contact mail on ghdhair.com) andthey said it is approved. But since theyr url verifier doesn't recognise I'm still a bit unsure.
    Anybody who has more info?
Not sure about this site, can't find a phone number or an office location and they can't spell very well.....
ok update: I emailed them again 'but your url checker says not' and indeed it was a mistake they are NOT official DESPITE claiming to be

sorry, but have you actually read the thread? They are genuine, arrived at my house and the hologram is registered with ghd which is how you know it isnt fake. And ghd reccomend them as being genuine. £108 is cheap for genuine ones but fake ones tend to go for a lot less than that.

I have had mine for nearly 3 years now and think they are great. Here is a strange thing i have noticed. When i use them at home = e.sussex they heat up fine but i have noticed they are not as hot as when i got them, When i use them at my fellas in Wales they get hotter. Very strange

  • I bought mine from https://www.ghd-uk.co.uk and they were £99.99 which included a heat mat and some ghd thermal protection spray.

I've had straighteners for years and these are just so much better than any others I've bought (and I had both cheap and expensive ones over the years). It takes me just minutes to do my hair now because they are so good instead of the 20 minutes before when I'd have to go over and over the same bit and then walk out the door and it'd be awful in a couple of hours. My hair keeps the style for two days as well so it saves me even more faffing about the next day.

I know people think they are frivolous but I am a proper tight fisted MSE'r and resisted buying them for years - boy do I wish I'd bought them sooner!! There is a good reason they're the brand hairdressers themselves go for - they ARE better.
