I used to make lots of little overpayments on the MFin3 challenge but for various reasons (good and bad), have really fallen off the waggon.:o

Our mortgage is about to go up horribly  due to major building work. I will take inspiration from you guys though and as soon as we know how much we will owe, we will set about killing the darn thing off once and for all.:j

It is good to be back!

Sorry Guys can you remove me from MTinT as my goals have now changed.

    Thanks!

Oh dear. Hope everything is OK.

Just spotted this as I've been doing a few updates to the chart - was thumbing back over recent posts. I've put a strike through in the chart and post #1, such that if Natalie wants to re-join, she can.

I've also updated objective for Daisy Duck and Superfast_Gran. If I've still missed anyone, please PM me or use the challenge update form - details in the first few posts of this thread.

Don't think I'll be making any additional overpayments for the next couple of months. Need to work out how much extra this bad weather is going to cost me in heating and additional purchases (Thermal clothing, Yaktrax etc). With having two dogs we can't avoid having to go out in this weather no matter how bad it gets. Is it three weeks or four weeks of snow that we've had so far?

£1242 overpayment went in today (largest I have ever made)

    This consisted of:
    Monthly direct debit overpayment: £385
Change pot (collected during 2009): £61
Couple of items sold + small Xmas bonus + planned yearly OP: £796

    Good start to 2010

Hi All, I've been absent for a while so my apologies if I've missed anything. I'm hoping to stay in and complete this challenge although I think it will be a case of catch up towards the end. At the beginning of December I was laid off and I'm trying to find work at the moment. I've got a few interviews coming up and I've got some low paid part time work starting soon and I'm waiting to complete some training and then hopefully will be on an agencies books ... so hopefully it won't be long before we start over paying. Luckily (I think) we're on a Interest Only mortgage so my OH can cover that and our other bills but obviously it means we're standing still at the moment.
Still it could be worse ...

Just a little update from me. I have PM'D fb to ask him to change my starting balance from £33219 to £33314. This is to include a final payment fee of £95 that I have to pay regardless of whether I pay the mortgage off early or let it run its full term so I think its only right to include it.

Since the start of this challenge I have so far reduced my mortgage by £3023.86 bringing my balance down to £30290 (so nearly under 30k!!:D). This is made up of standard payments of £812.54, overpayments of £2287.81 and interest of £76.49.

My overpayments have come from monthly overpayments of £117, money earned from ebay, quidco, scratchcards, etc, money unspent from various budgets i.e. groceries, petrol, etc and a large part was a nice xmas bonus. So a good start:j - just hope I can keep it up - would be so nice to be mortgage free!!!

Hello challenge members :) I updated via google docs but just wanted to say since announcing our start figure of 79480 we're now at 66991 :D. The first £8000 of that had been waiting for a while to go in :o at my yearly OP date in dec, but still, feels like I've made a good start already :)

FB When my baby comes in March I probably won't be very good at updating for a bit so I'll try and submit a few figures via google docs between now and then so that I can still be included in the first challenge spreadsheet. Is that OK?
