Oh you are so kind you good soul. Must be a Banker, that's exactly what they say after defrauding you of all your money and property. Well done and Happy New Year to you too.
I'm no more a banker than you are a world-changing activist!
  • Happy New YEar to everyone. This is my first post on here - hoping to get ideas from you all ( and to give some back). First thing I need to do is get OH to realise you don't have to spend every penny you have in your pocket. Have paid off his loans and cut up credit card so a good start! Looking for a part-time job now so fingers crossed. Also busy doing surveys. New year resolution to get out for bike rides in order to get fit (saving on the gym fees!) and to stop wasting food. Sharing mum's allotment so will be plenty of "free" veg in the summer. Also joined the library so no more expensive books. Hoping to make first OP this week as have some christmas money (could spend in the sales but do I really need to?)

I think you just need to post or fill in the update form, with your 3 monthly figure by the deadline.
The first deadline ie 12/03/10, then 12/06/10 and so on until the end of the challenge.

I think monthly updates are needed for the MFW 2010 challenge.
  • Sorry everyone - due to illness, I forgot to enter my actual starting figure of £36853 until today. Health improving so hopefully will not forget to update for chart in March - :o

Happy New Year to you all
:( Struggling too much wears a body out
  • My first overpayment of £500 has been made to the mortgage plus I've made to normal monthly payments since the challenge started :) I just need to update the figures and we're away. I've not reduced the mortgage term yet I will do this when our debt is completely gone (v v nearly there now) but I don't want to jump too soon.

I am envious of you folks. If only my partner was this committed. I find it difficult to pay more into a joint acct when ownership is 50-50, yet i feel that we're wasting funds by not overpaying regularly. Right now, it's haphazard.

I know how you feel, I feel like I want to save every penny (well sometimes ;)), but my husband is not quite so enthusiastic. I'm just planning to tell him my how much I have saved for the overpayment and hope he will match it...

I am an Avon representitive and my plan is to use my profit for the overpayments. I only do 'friends and family', so perhaps make £15-£25 or so a month, but it's a start.

I've read though the last couple of weeks worth of posts and like the ideas. I already do surveys, but try to save the earnings/vouchers from these for Xmas presents, but there are several other things I'd like to look into:

Grocery challenge (if we can save some joint money, hopefully that can go straight to OP) - I haven't read up on this yet, but have tidied up my kitchen cupboards today, so I at least know what's in there and don't buy things I don't need!

Ebay - Really want to get de-cluttered and would be fab to make some money at the same time, just seems to be a lot of hassle to do the listings and work out the postage etc etc. We're expecting our second baby in June, so looking forward to clearing out the loft of all the things we saved from the first time round once this one has finished with it all! :T

Also like the idea of the frugal living challenge and no spend days...

    Good luck to all!

(Sorry for the long post, but they will probably be few and far between!)
