  • Ah, but it's update month coming up, so everyone will be posting soon!

My kitchen is coming on, so my offset savings are going down - but that's what savings are for, isn't it?! Hoping to have it finished ny the time OH is back for his mid-tour break from Afghanistan. Still need to decide on the floor (quote due tomorrow) and window coverings. Does anyone have anything other than blinds nowadays? Grateful for all thoughts!

We have just changed our HSBC mortgage which was on SVR (3.94) to the 1.99 above base fee free tracker, unlimited overpayments mortgages. We did so all online with internet banking with a few clicks and a little time to read everything through. I was really impressed and making overpayments in really easy too with HSBC intenet banking.

we have similar, its great :)
Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 17
  • Free listing weekend on eBay, so I've listed our old cooker (new worktops being fitted tomorrow, so the new hob can finally be fitted, too), my nice saucepans (as they won't work with my new induction hob) and our 'other' washing machine - we'd brought OH's with us when we moved two-and-a-half years ago, but the previous people left a new machine that was similar. I was going to eBay OH's but wanted to check it was working OK, so took out the newer one and re-plumbed OH's - which works fine and I really can't be bothered to swap them again. So the 'other' one is now on eBay, too. A few watchers, no bidders yet, but every little helps - fingers crossed!

Remember the 12 March update, only 9 months of this challenge left!

    Evening all,
Been letting this thread just bump along :o

Apologies for that. Going to look at the figures that are there for the March update sometime this week.

Don't know about anyone else, but our mortgage payment comes out on the first of March, so I should be in a position to commit a balance update by the second or third. Guess it depends on when your mortgage payment comes out.

Don't forget 2 weeks now until chart 09 - update before then if possible if you want to be included in the chart, although I'll still take updates after the 12th.

Finally, is it just me or does the last £20k always go down so slowly?

    Financial Bliss.

I really struggled last year! i'm finding this year is going quick I think we are letting everything slip and enjoying some interest free credit cards which will be paid off once MF, but still making our mortgage payments, also mortgage comes out on the 1st so an early update from me. :)

  • WOO HOO, another major milestone achieved !!

We have just broken through the £10k barrier and are now into single figure thousands

Februaries OP came off today bringing us down to £9,725 with a projected 251 days to go to be MF. We still have our regular mortgage payment to come off first week in March and hopefully a small overpayment can make its way in at the same time to get us into the 8's by the next chart update.

Feels like it is taking ages..........we have been in the teens since May last year. The end is in sight though!
    5/10/12 : Mortgage Free :)
  • Yes agree last 20k feels like its dragging to shift, with payments i should be under 20k by May but its so slow :rotfl:
