Number 37 checking in, under a different user name as I'm unable to access my old one for some reason.

With the standard op of 640 pounds due to go in 2 days and a lump sum of 4000 paid off the mortgage this month our updated figure is..... 49,643.09... YAY under the 50k mark for the first time, i'm so pleased and excited (at least you guys understand!!).
We are late starters to the challenge (we joined Aug 10) however since then we have paid off 13,857. The aim now is to pay off 2000 a month to get it cleared in aprox 2 years. Well thats the aim..fingers crossed!

Hope everyone else is doing OK

    Hi all,

Haven't really put my head around the corner of this thread / challenge lately - other things on my mind - sorry. :o:o:o

But, with it being December in a few days, we're at the end of year two of this challenge, which means chart 08

I'm going to check out what updates have been fed back to date, with a view to being spot on time with this chart - last chart was quite late in the day.

Feel free to start passing through updates.

I've updated too, twice - I managed to report what I've paid off, rather than the balance. Apparently I did that for the last chart, too - you'd think I'd be getting the hang of it by now! I'll therefore drop from being in the mega-green at nearly 200% of target to amber or red, as I'm not including my offset savings (yet) in what's paid off.

I'm hoping I'm adding value to the house still, too - I've hacked all the kitchen tiles from the wall (and taken then to the 'household recycling centre' in two trips to save a skip - there'll be many more MSE-style trips to said dump before we're done. The plasterer bloke is patching up around the windows where the expensive double-glazing people covered up the huge gaps they'd left by sticking UPVC strips around the windows. It'll be one of those jobs that many other people wouldn't even notice, but I'll know it's now done properly, and will have windowsills wide enough to grow lots of herbs again without them toppling off all the time.

Happy days! Off to get a coat of paint on the stair spindles - I love days off work, so relaxing! :rotfl:

I have just updated my spreadsheet so I thought I'd check in early for a change.

My balance is now £6,685 and I'm almost on the final countdown. I'm expecting to be fully paid off by April 2012 if I am able to stick to my rather ambitious programme of overpayments. It will be May at the latest. I'm excited about getting my balance down to a big fat zero!

Now the number is getting smaller I am even more motivated than ever.

Looking forward to the updated chart.
