The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 2 challenge (MFiT-T2)
Comments

We totally agree with everyone saying the cost of food, petrol, fuel etc is costing us a lot more these days and there's not much we can do about it apart from watching the pennies, sticking to a shopping list, insulating our homes etc....
Our challenge of repaying £9K off our mortgage is a relatively small one compared to some people on here who are managing to pay off huge chunks. However, the way I see it is that the more we manage to pay off now, means that when our pathetic, underperforming endowment matures in 2014 we may have some money left over, or if not, at least the mortgage should be paid off very much sooner if we hadn't attempted this challenge.:TEach £100 we pay off now is a step closer to mortgage freedom and then of course we'll be helping our teenagers buy their first homes!!!!:eek:Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Sorry late as usual but have recorded £28,000 by google docs.
Missed the last update as busy doing frivolous things like marrying off my daughter and holidaying.
Like everyone else my cash is being squeezed and without a miracle I won't be MF in 3 but I'll still have made a rather large dent in the mortgage I hope.
Well done to everyone for your MF achievements great or small and thanks for running the challenge FB

Hi FB, that chart does not appear to have picked up our update. I used Google rods.??

Can thus be added in?RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004
Lightbulb Dec 2008 £146,000 by March 2026:eek:
MFi3T2 and T3 No 28 - Dec 2009 Start Balance £117,000
Current Position-Fully off set by savings since March 20130 -
Thanks FB and Maz - I've slipped into the yellow at 48.5% as I'm not yet counting my offset savings as I don't know what I'll spend between now and teh end of the challenge - there's a possibility of voluntary redundancy which I'm seriously considering. The MFI3 challenge would then be off, but with a lot of savings to see us over a couple of years of me spending time doing up the house and garden. An opportunity that's only possible because of the prevous and current MFI3 challenges.
Well done everyone, no matter what colour you are this update!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -

Sorry I am a little late in posting.
Have just received an update letter. Outstanding balance now stands @ £79K. Although not completely on track for my target I feel quite good to have broken the £80K mark.:o:D
Still thinking of ways to take bigger chunks off the capital. The quicker the capital reduces the less interest is paid.
Keep up the good work everyone :T:TMFiT-T2 #102

Oops. I thought yesterday was a bit of a disaster. Fully intended to post chart 07 later in the evening, but got some unexpected company and once the wine had been out, didn't feel like firing the PC back up
Still, I've just done a few updates, plus I'm about to look at a few oddball cases. I'll try and get chart 07 posted too.
But, it was mentioned a few weeks ago that there's a fair few people that haven't posted any updates since the challenge started. Don't worry, it wasn't compulsory, but I said I'd PM everyone to enquire if anyone wanted to officially drop out, thus freeing up a slot.
Well in true FB style (ie a little later than I expected), here's the list of dormant challengers:
3. Lunar Eclipse
10. RoxieW

At some 47  people, and not being able to PM groups of people, they will all need to be PM'd individually and at one minute intervals, this is probably going to take over an hour, so I'll break up into blocks which I'll do throughout the week ahead.
If you happen to be reading this and your name is in the list above, if you want to leave the challenge - a PM would be appreciated.
Thanks,
