Hi Rosie Tiger, other challengers, supporters and lurkers

I've updated my figures, which are looking very healthy and thus are giving me permission to spend some money on the house, rather than have the opportunity to pay lots off the mortgage but not particularly enjoy the house as it needs work - hope that makes sense to other people...

We had lots of family stay for the Easter weekend, so this second four-day weekend has (so far) been lots of time catching up with work in the garden which has been great. It looks slightly cooler today, but the promised rain has yet to arrive, so hopefully we'll get more done - we're rewarding ourselves with milk shakes and choc ices as we go, so don't be thinking it's all work, work, work!

Hope everyone else has the opportunity to enjoy their weekend

    Hello!

This is my first post - I have been lurking for some time now, and totally in awe of the achievements that so many people have made on this site.

I come to MSE regularly for information from the main site, but since finding the forums, I have seen how words of encouragement and the helpfulness of fellow members can truly inspire others.

So I am not sure if there are any spaces left to join the challenge at this half way stage.

But if so, currently my mortgage is for 116,000

    Goal 76,000 by 12/12/12

Congratulations to those who have done amazingly well...

I hope to join you soon!
    Copy of PM to Sophi:

    Sophi,
Interesting question, and to be honest, I'd say you could potentially do so, as others have joined part way through the challenge.

The charts are failrly complex and having a standard structure with a fixed size works well, so I'm very very reluctant to add to the list of challengers.

However there are a number of people who registered for the challenge, but never posted any chart updates, so they could be edited out of the challenge without affecting any stats.

But therein lies the problem - if they have left the challenge they are probably no longer reading this challenge thread.

What I think I'll try and do over the next few days is list anyone who I think has posted no updates at all to see if this generates any response from those challenges to confirm that they are no longer interested in the challenge.

But what really needs to happen is for me to PM the list of challengers and see where we can go from there, which is going to take a bit longer to organise.

I'll post in the challenge thread and PM you if I manage to discover anyone without any updates (ie which would free up a slot) who wants to leave the challenge.

Another major milestone reached, we are now in the TEENS, £19,935 to be precise! :j

Since joining the Mortgage Free in Three (take 2) challenge in December 2009 we have dropped ~£20k from the mortgage and are half way towards our goal.

My figures have been missing for a long time as I have not posted updates. Apologies, I forgot all about this even though we have continued to make extra payments and to save hard into our mortgage offset account. When I started I had a mortgage of £250k and £30k in the offset account, so net of £220k. As of today we have £217k mortgage balance and £70k in the offset, so net balance of £147k. Getting closer to the target of £100k. Right now we are pondering moving home and downsizing so we may end up paying off that entire mortgage balance in one go.
