Blimey, we had a shake up at work 6 months ago and our ward was split into 2. The CCU staff were kept upstairs to open up a new high dependency area alongside an admissions bit with the other cardiac nurses going down to open a cardiac unit. I have just seen on facebook that the girls who went downstairs have 30 days to find a new job. Thank goodness I was able to stay upstairs with the HDU area as I would be without a job in a month. I'm terrible at interviews and would never manage to get a new job from my portfolio and interview skills.
Those poor girls, I feel terrible for them it must be so stressful :(

  • Hello!

This is my first post - I have been lurking for some time now, and totally in awe of the achievements that so many people have made on this site.

I come to MSE regularly for information from the main site, but since finding the forums, I have seen how words of encouragement and the helpfulness of fellow members can truly inspire others.

So I am not sure if there are any spaces left to join the challenge at this half way stage.

But if so, currently my mortgage is for 116,000

    Goal 76,000 by 12/12/12

Congratulations to those who have done amazingly well...

I hope to join you soon!

This challenge is closed as it was based on a 3 year time period up to 12/12/12. However, there are one year challenges ( ie MFW 2011) on the go and there will be another for 2012.

Check whether the 2011 challenge is still open.

Good luck and welcome aboard the MFW train !

    Hi All

Sat here a bit drunk sipping champagne! Had a letter today from the bank confirming that the mortgage is fully paid off and the account was closed
I've managed it with a combination of hard work and effort, combined with a big slice of good luck.

From the 1st MFi3 challenge and into this one we've paid down from 95K to 53K. At the back end of last year I found out I was going to be made redundant which was extremely stressful as I am the only earner. The company did offer a generous package and I was able to pay the remaining balance off in full with my redundancy payment :D

To top off my good fortune, I had managed to line another job up in the same field which is a bit less paid but more than enough, especially with no more mortgage payments coming out.

I'm 37 and mortgage free. We won't be moving as we had an extension last year. Hasn't quite sunk in yet, but I'm so happy and wanted to share :D

    Thanks
    Bonesy

    P.S. The champagne was a leaving present - I didn't buy it myself!!! ;)

Just fantastic news.. and so MSE with the champagne too:rotfl:
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

I was just looking at the last chart. Of the 208 taking part it looks like a quarter have never posted any figures.

Yet, we have repaid £2.6M between us :T

That's pretty incredible. Can't wait for the half way point chart in June!!!

Hopefully you have all manged to enjoy yourselves this weekend and hopefully the weather will stay good for the rest of the weekend.
