Hi all. I have had some thinking time lately as I work as an exam invigilator and so get plenty of time to do nothing other than think! Although OH's work situation is not remotely sorted, and at present he is just doing some part time contract work, we have decided to set a target of reducing our mortgage by £66000 over the challenge period. I just need to keep on top of my spreadsheets to see if that target is achievable. Here's hoping....:DMFiT-T3 Number 61 Reduce mortgage by £50000Mar 13 £5660/11.32% June 13 £12513/25.03% Sept 13 £16951/33.90% Sept 14 £38391/78.78% paid offMFiT-T2 Number 34 Reduce mortgage by £66471Dec 12 100% paid off!0

good afternoon people, I feel like i've abandoned everybody over the last couple of months just because i've been so busy at work.I'm a tad off track for the start of the challenge but have still got time to get it sorted
For once I may be about on the nail regarding my starting amount.
Currently it's looking like I'll be in the high £48's or almost at £49k, so my original estimate of about £48,947 may not be too wide of the mark...

If you have a mortgage diary, then it's not a problem to link to it in post number 1. The main "problem" is that we will need to be aware of your diary. Please PM myself or Maz123 and we can then get a link to your diary organised.
I've just added a question and answer to post number 2 regarding mortgage free diaries. Originally, I've just been adding in diaries if I knew a challenger had one as a challenger joined.
Recently, I changed the "welcome" PM I send back to include some info about a diary, but I'm sure there's a challenger or two who has a diary that's been missed out.
If that's the case, post here or PM myself or Maz123 and we'll sort you out...

Well part of the plan for the challenge is in place now, we're all signed up on FD's 2.99% fix for 2 years (only booking fee applied and we'd still be up on the day even if the SVR stayed the same).
LM:jMFWin3T2 No 20 - aim £94.9K to £65K:j

No 46 I think reporting in to describe my objectives for this challenge. Hope to have mortgage starting at the beginning of 2010 at £61000 and hope to pay off £18000 so the reduced amount should be £43000. I hope this is reasonable as managing to pay off roughly at least £6000 off my mortgage last year and this year - fingers crossed I can do this and hopefully beat it.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46
Overpayments 2006-2009 = £11985; 2010 = £6170, 2011 = £5570, 2012 = £12900 -
OK I think it's time I should get on board with this challenge. Can I join
Here the necessary info I think:
1) balance at start of challenge £130k (can we change this if the actual does differ?)
2) target is to reduce mortgage to £85k by 12.12.12
3) link to diary http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1450637#
Anything else needed?
thanksMortgage started May 08 @ £144,499 for 35 yrs:eek: Must get mortgage sub £100k by xmas 2011

I've applied for my mortgage as we're moving to a new house (fingers crossed) before then, so if that goes to plan I should have a starting figure by the end of the summer. It will be significantly more than my current sig, which would have been totally 'offset' by the end of the original MFiT challenge - and the overpaying is the reason we can now buy an amazing house
