    Hi All

I'd like to join the challenge. We have 1 big mortgage which for some reason the bank views as 2 seperate mortgages. I'd like to try and get rid of the £42,000 part which is coming to the end of it's fixed rate in September so good timing for the challenge! The other bit is a fixed for the next nine years, so kind of ignoring it right now!

Wow, I can't believe you're on here now hypno, you'll be whipping us all into shape! I've read some of your diary posts on DFW and the way you have just kept plugging on at it is inspiring! I really hope you do manage to clear all your unsecured by Christmas so that you can move into the new year with this fresh (and exciting) new challenge!

Thanks!! Although I am hoping you will be whipping me into shape too! I am determined to be rid of the unsecured by Christmas, but the danger is that I take my foot off the gas and just let the mortgage do its own thing......

So I'll need regular whipping to keep going and get that mortgage down and out!

Looking forward to the challenge.....talk about wishing the next 6 months away :rotfl:

    Hi Penny pauper,
Consider yourself enrolled. We've allocated you as questee no. 55. I'll also PM you.

What's the rate on the 42k part compared to the rest of the mortgage? As with any debt, clear the highest rate first to minimise interest charges.

I'm excited about starting thats why I decided to get my mortgage account online in preparation. What a disappointment Halifax only give you an account summary not the nitty gritty details I wanted. Still they say I can borrow another £120K  they obviously haven't revalued my house recently I would definitely be in negative equity then. Or I can take a 6 month payment holiday - thanks but no thanks :rotfl:

Which mortgage companies actually provide full details online?

A member of staff from A&L said that they couldnt do mortgage statements online because of the data protection act:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This made me chuckle as I've been thinking recently that I better get a move on, find a house and get the mortgage before December so I can join the challenge. That would be a daft reason for making an impulsive decision about my dream home :rotfl:

I'm kinda excited but obviously I'm excited that I'm coming towards teh end of my first 3 year challenge. I've lived in my house for 4 years yesterday. We got the keys on the 27th but didn't move until the next day (Friday and Saturday). I remember how excited we were to be in our own house with a real garden. The kids were tiny and delighted.
We went to the park today to walk next doors dog who we're looking after for the weekend and I saw the lovely bungalow. I was a bit whistful as I felt that I was saying goodbye to a dream of a big garden but I wouldn't want to give up the lovely memories we've made in this house. We've got fantastic neighbours who have become good friends.
In short, I'm looking forward to another period of making this home ours!
