Dualit toaster is broke (soft touch lite).
Hubby changed fuse, its not that.
He has it in shed:rolleyes: Thankfully he hasn't had time to start messing about with it:eek:
Is a toaster (even a Dualite) worth repairing & if so where do I try
About 3 years old, but not used a great deal.

When I had a Dualite ( cant remember witch model.. four sliced ) came with an instruction manual , you could replace the elements. Fairly certain it cost over £100
so was worth a repair.0 -
The elements have also gone in my Dualit. I've been meaning to do something about it for ages but haven't got round to it as I don't use it that much. I know you can get the parts which I think come with instructions from Dualit if you email them at info@dualit.com. Think they cost about £25.0

I've replaced the timer on a Dualit 20245, which was fairly straightforward. Genuine parts are available on eBay cheaper than Dualit prices. Someone's given me a newer Soft Touch one where the toast won't stay down and thanks to the bizarre security screws Dualit have used, I haven't even been able to even get into it yet. I've read in a couple of places that the Soft Touches have circuit boards with electronic control circuitry - as opposed to the older style electromechanical gubbins - which make them much harder to repair.0

Hi, I think there 2 different types of Dualit product, the traditionalt British built toasters and then the Far East built ones. Certainly the tradional ones should always be repaired as that is the way they have been designed and made. I am not so sure about the Far East built products though.0

Small update on this from my end - I was also given a faulty Dualit Lite (model number 2NG1GB) and was able to fix it. I used this link for instructions:

It seems like a common fault that the mains neutral wire breaks inside the case and needs to be reconnected. The problem is getting past those annoying security screws on the bottom. I did the same as the guy in the link and used a 2-prong security bit at an angle to get them off. It was fiddly but do-able. Luckily I had some similar sized Philips screws to replace them with so the next person who has a look at it won't have the same trouble0 -
you can get the proper set of driver bits from places like the poundshop.Get some gorm.0 -
My dualit toaster broke recently (was dropped from a ruddy great height by our removal men) and I sent it off to Dualit to be repaired. Very impressed with their service, cost was £60 so definitely worth repairing. They also threw in a new knob for my kettle for free as well (also damaged by removal men).Saving for an early retirement!0
