Should I buy my 4-year-old son pink shoes?

Wow! This thread is interesting. My son's first shoes were pink because that's what he chose. He wanted a pink trike and I talked him into getting a silver one because i thought he'd grow out of it and reject the trike. He didn't and for the duration of his time with it, he frequently said he wished he had the pink one.
He got his first proper bike last summer. It's vibrant pink. He loves it. Good for him.

I see no problem with it i have a 5 year old and he as pink jumpers and shirts etc its quite an uin colour for boys at the moment and the above clothese i mentioned were bought out of the boys sections of next and adams, You could try and get converse style boots in pink i think these are lovely and i also no some older male friends of mine that wear pink converse boots
Girls dont get told they shouldnt wear certain colours so dont see why it should apply to boys0 -
Haven't read every post, but traditionally pink is actually a boys colour and blue was for girls. Around the turn of the last century, pink was for boys as it was regarded as a stronger colour, and blue was delicate and therefore was for the dainty girls. It obviously changed stance and did so I believe, around the roaring 20's.
I see plenty of men now a days wearing pink shirts/ties/t-shirts etc, know plenty of them and I know they are not gay! I only know 1 gay man and he hates pink.
Its only a pair of shoes. And he is only 4. If anyone has an issue with that, then its their problem and no-one elses. You may find difficulty in buying pink boys shoes though. Pink girls shoes tend to be flowery and love-hearty, so thats out.0 -

My youngest wore some blue shoes with butterflies and flowers on them for a while because he lost his shoes and a friend had a spare pair. He looked cute as a button in them.

Have to agree completely that as long as you get boys shoes for him then there really is no issue what the colour is, having said that my little boy who is 5 wouldn't be seen dead in pink at all!, I did buy him a pink top a while back but he won't wear it as he says pink is for girls!, you do wonder where they get this from as I have certainly never imposed this view on him at all, there is too much social pressure on children these days to dress a certain way, wear certain brands etc, even at such a young age, I think it is very sadAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

LOL! Cos I made an assumption!! :rotfl: Which was a mistake cos I guess this whole thread is about not making assumptions (pink=gay etc!!)
I read it that he wanted just pink shoes - not pink with flowers and hearts on.0 -

I don't know about pink shoes really, but I would buy pink slippers for home and I do buy girls toys if my 3 year old likes them. At that age it's just a colour, and girls toys are just about the nurturing side of their personality - it doesn't mean they want to be a girl (or if they do, probably not forever).
Every child I have ever known would choose pink or red as their first choice. It's just a nice colour. I don't see how it would have anything to do with being gayNone of the gay men I know wear pink or anything girly.

I was going to post a link to the 'vivid pink barracuda bike' but even with strict safe search on, the page is full of 'interesting' umm, products for ladies, also apparently in vivid pink. :eek:May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
