If you mean:
"Would I get a discount if I entered into contract for two phones from the same provider at the same time, rather than two contracts?" the answer, in my experience, is no.
You may be in a position where you can get "business rates", e.g. if you have a registered trading company. Some networks offer discounts for that, and other features such as free or very cheap calls between the two phones.
I've tried on a number of occasions to say "I want a deal on behalf of myself and my wife", but found that the networks weren't geared up for that kind of scenario. Or that the "deals" weren't that great - check out Orange's family deal here.
If you mean "should I try to arrange a deal on the same network as my son?", then you might find a tariff where same-network minutes are cheaper than cross-network (e.g. your Orange to son's Vodafone), but whether this is of benefit to you would depend on who you make the most calls to.
Hope that helps, if only a little.0
