Windows 7 More and More Like OSX

The Windows 7 Beta has a shiny new dock, just like OS X.
I guess no one told them Apple patented it a few months ago.0 -
And Stardock has been providing a dock for Windows for over half a decade.
!!!!!! is peek? You mean a preview of a running windows contents from the button on the taskbar? Vista has had that for 2 years.
As for the Vista comment, there's nothing wrong with it. Try running it on modern hardware. Also Windows 7 is based on Vista.
Copying odeas from Linux? What would those be then? Linux GUIs have just about caught up to the functionality of Windows 2000.Conor

I use both so I'm not going down that alley

Personally I think Vista is a mess, and hope Windows 7 addresses this - which is why on my systems XP Pro has remained, but others like it.
As superscaper mentions, the majority of interface ideas all stem from the Xerox PARC labs, not Apple and not MS.
I still don't know why so many argue to the death about OSes, to me it's all about the applications.
Moving more off-topic, whatever you think of either company and their products, one definitely knows more about how to present... These are two of my favourite Steve Ballmer moments:

Well worth a look

There's something quite poetic about how Apple actually copied their first GUI from Xerox!!
I was just about to mention that the credit to the first operating system with a gui should be going to Xerox, the true innovators..0 -
How can Apple patent the dock? Similar software like Objectdock has been around for donkey's years.
All companies borrow ideas from each other, you just hope they improve things as they do.
I'm surprised Mac fans aren't happy that Windows 7 is more like OSX as surely that means they were right all along ?:think:It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I can't vote! I have no experience of OSX, and this is just a troll post anyway, though it's looking like everyone has the 'my choice is better than yours' stuff out of their systems, for now.
Strangely...It's looking like a happy, friendly bunch around here at the moment...it can't last!

I do agree.. Apple Mac users are far too zealous for their own good0 -

I remember using ViewMax as a youngster, I think we got it for the computer on a disk with a magazine. Neither me or my father could remember what it was called, but now you've solved that mystery!0 -
