Three Network - a load of rubbish?

Options
I contracted to Three network last August through dial a phone. In the last week there have been several occasions where I have been unable to make/receive calls and text messages. This is really poor and not what I paid for.

Is there any point my complaining to dial a phone because they are not offering me the service that I am paying for? :money:

Nothing to do with dialaphone, they only sell the phones and provide the contracts. You need to complain to 3. Who provide the service.

When brother couldn't get a signal on vodafone at his home it turned out the transmitter had a fault.

Also it happens with all networks sometimes. They get overloaded with calls and can't cope

as an EX phone salesman - not Dialaphone but a very similar company, I say avoid those companies, especially when the cold call you, and if they are flogging the Three network.

They push Three as they get higher commision. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE PRESSURED INTO A CONTRACT. Remember that you have 7 or 14 days money back guarantee, and if you phone to complain these people are highly trained to make you keep it! Distance Selling Regulations etc - you can send it back!

On the Three front, they piggyback the 02 network, but 02 takes priority as they look after their customers first, and if the network get overloaded the Three customers get disconnected, so even tho you may be getting lots minutes it can be hard to use them!!!

Where coverage is available in the countryside though it is apparently good, but I would avoid like the plague!

    Good luck

I've just finished a contract with 3 after a year.

Yes the network can be a tad patchy and you can get cut off at times. But then radio telephony will never be as good as fixed line service. I've heard similar complaint from users of other networks all too frequently. The quality of an individual network is often dependent on your own demographics. 3 have some way to go before they are as good as the other three. But really, they're not so very bad at all.

I certainly would have remained with 3. I changed network simply because I had a better offer elsewhere. I'd have stayed with 3 if they'd have matched the offer. I had 500 minutes and 100 texts per month with 3 and with the cashback arrangements it was free in the end. You can't grumble for zero cost.

3 will get better as time goes by. I well remember people grumbling about Oranges network in the early days. This served to taint the individuals view of Orange for a period long after Orange had improved its act. You rarely hear anyone grumbling about Orange network coverage nowadays.

May not complain about Orange coverage anymore, but people are complaining about everything else that is Orange!! The future maybe bright, but it sure isn't Orange.

Well there you are. Utopia is still some way off.

Orange served a very useful purpose in that it was the first UK network, owned by Hutchison, to offer per second billing. I well remember reading an article by Chris Ghent, the then chairman of Voda, who ludicrously mouthed the words "our customers are quite happy, they don't want per second billing". How he must have choked on those words as he saw business ebbing away from the well-established analogue Vodafone. Needless to say that per second billing on Voda soon followed. But both Cellnet and Voda were dragged kicking and screaming from their cosy first minute, then 30 second increment billing. Orange were responsible for that.

Orange have been very innovative in their billing. They alone have at least offered OVP. The others have not followed.

The real problem for Orange is that they are now owned by France Telecom. This has not been good for them and their innovation seems to have waned.

Now we have the newcomer 3. Interestingly, 3 is owned by Hutchison, ie the original owners of Orange.
  • On my 3rd '3' contract.

And very satisfied. Esp the 'real time' inclusive call updater. Very handy. With my O2 contract we had to ring O2 (at a cost) to find out the calls remaining-and with a 45 min wait, by the time you got thgrough, the info they gave was still 48 hours out of date (not taking into account the current call-which they took from your incl calls)

Coverage is fine-so we are happy

Yes, to begin with they were up against it. The first Orange brochure I ever got listed 2 dealers 10 miles away. I rang one up, who said - what on earth do you want to get a phone with them for? I rang Orange and asked why on earth I should buy from this dealer.

    I don't think so!

I've had quite a good experience of 3, I read alot about 3 on MSE and basically concluded that peoples bad experiences with 3 were with the handsets, so when I went for a £2.99p.m. with CPW I only got it as they were selling it with a Nokia 7600 the phone doesn't look great but we've got used to it, and now there are much better nokia and other makes of phones on 3, unfortunately the really cheap deals are gone!

The coverage IS patchy. Some people find this okay, but for others it is unacceptable if it is losing them money as they cant speak to clients.

Three need to pull their finger out and provide the service that people expect, especially with supposed brand new 21st century technology!

I've found three to have better coverage where I work than all the other networks. I can't get a signal on any network at work, but 3 gets a full signal all the time.

I think all networks have good and bad areas, and threes signal has been getting better all the time, as they have been puuting more masts up. I think people are now going on the bad reputation It used to have, rather than what it is like now

My main complaint is the walled garden on the internet they have
