I am very confused. Is there anyone who can help me please with regard to my A & L account. Wanted to put initial deposit in my newly opened A & L esaver issue 2 today so went down to the bank as instructions stated with relevent account number and sort code from A & L. A direct debit instruction was set up when the original account was set up online and when I went into the bank she told me that she would do a one off standing order to transfer my deposit fund to my A & L account. Please stay with me on this one! Soooo, does anyone know if I will now be able to transact electronically as and when I want to deposit more money, or will I have to go down to the bank everytime! She told me that a direct debit means money should go out of my account to A & L every month, but that is not what I want. I am so muddled with this, has anyone set one of these up and can you help me please (no I'm not blonde, only joking for those of you who are sorry)
You can definately transact electronically from within your new A&L e-saver issue 2 (I have one as well). To deposit more money from your bank account to A&L you log on to your A&L account. Then click the "Payments/Transfer" link. You will see a dropdown box next to "Account you want to make payment from". If you want to move money from your bank account (ie into A&L) choose your bank account from the dropdown, enter te date you want payment made and the amount and click Next.
I found the first payment (only in my case - I only have £1 in it) electronically took an awful long time. Apparently once that is done successfully, subsequent payments are faster.
Hope that helps alleviate your confusion.0 -
I have nothing useful to add to this thread....but would like to make the minor observation that I tried to open issue 2 back in NOVEMBER. Received confirmation and sent off ID docs. Nothing. Chase down several times. Finally they said they weren't copmleted correctly. so sent off again. still nothing. So basically having taken just under £50k out of Issue 1 back in Nov and moved it elsewhere (keeping £1 in), A&Ls incompetence means they've been missing out on having it back, and in the meantime they've started yet another acct in good 'ol A&L fahsion.
P.S. Why oh why is it that some banks insist on resubmission of identification for new accounts for existing account holders, while most others have no problem. Bizaaaaaaaaaaaaaare.0 -
Very very strange.
After I opened Issue 1 (me & wife) I have since opened Issue 2 for each and an Easy ISA each, online.
In none of these 4 occasions have i been asked for any ID from A&L. The accounts have very quickly been added to my online profile, ready to use, well before any letter from them arrives.0 -
Does seem haphazard with A&L doesn't it. When I applied for my e-saver issue 2, my pin code came in the post, but I hadn't had the user number, even though the letter said I had. I phoned A&L and after answering a load of security questions they gave me the user number verbally! I logged in then out again then in again to make sure I was happy with the pin change and got locked out. I had to get another pin which came in a few days. It took another week or more after this for teh username to arrive by post! I had no prob with ID when I applied though, unlike other institutions.0

Beginning to sound like I was one of the lucky ones!
Fingers-x for the same sort of luck with a pending Tesco application, though by the sound of some posts I'm not holding my breath!0 -
Many thanks to you all for your help in this. Sorry to sound so thick about all this but you have helped me greatly. Btw I have had no problem with identification issues, as it went through electronically and all the numbers came within a few days. Lets hope now my initial deposit of £10 goes through quickly then I can deposit more. Again thank you all so much, think I should change my user name on this board to "dizzy bird"0
