I have just got all my numbers passwords etc through from A & L for my e saver issue 2 I opened a week ago and it is now not showing any more on the website. I was going to put my first deposit in tomorrow, can I still do this if it is now obsolete, or will it just be obsolete to new customers. Sorry to sound so thick, thank you folks

Do not get yourself confused by looking at the current Issue 3 (or whichever Issue they're on then!) on their website. :eek:0 -

I am very confused. Is there anyone who can help me please with regard to my A & L account. Wanted to put initial deposit in my newly opened A & L esaver issue 2 today so went down to the bank as instructions stated with relevent account number and sort code from A & L. A direct debit instruction was set up when the original account was set up online and when I went into the bank she told me that she would do a one off standing order to transfer my deposit fund to my A & L account. Please stay with me on this one! Soooo, does anyone know if I will now be able to transact electronically as and when I want to deposit more money, or will I have to go down to the bank everytime! She told me that a direct debit means money should go out of my account to A & L every month, but that is not what I want. I am so muddled with this, has anyone set one of these up and can you help me please (no I'm not blonde, only joking for those of you who are sorry)0

I think they wait 30 days before reducing rates for existing customers, but obviously with base rate now down they dont want to be paying any new customers the extra .50% for the rest of this month so have changed the issue. So i guess it will drop to 3.60% for Issue 2 on about 2nd Feb.
I would be happy leaving the money there at that rate rather than changing to a fixing rate account at about the same rate, but if the base rate drops another .50% on Feb 8th then you are looking at A&L Issue 2 being 3.10% in early march and most likely staying at that rate for the near future so might be wise to move it now.0 -

The direct debit will have been set up when you opened the account.
Unless you instruct them the DD is NOT a regular payment.
It is set up so that when you log in to the A&L website you will be able to set up a transfer from your linked account to your A&L account, via DD.
If you want to do it the other way (I.e. from your current account to A&L savings) THEN you use standing order.
Either way has the same end result.0
