I've never heard of a credit card company just taking the money, without a DD already being set up.
You obviously haven't read some of the archived posts on this forum then.
It happens frequently when one is in arrears on a Card and they hold other accounts with the same underlying banking organisation.
Keep your funds in accounts not linked to those to whom you owe money.0 -
I work for ge money and i can guarentee you that they cant take money from your alliance and leciester account to pay your credit card so dont worry0

It happens quite frequently to those who owe money on a Barclaycard and have their wages paid into a Barclays Bank Account.
Yes, but in that circumstance you have an account and card with the same organisation
(Barclaycard is only a trading name of Barclays Bank)
Whereas with this situation you've got separate companies and FSA registrations, and, I would have thought Data Protection Issues if they share such details throughout the group without informing the customer. That is assuming that their IT systems are integrated enough to share such details particularly as internally A&L still operate on the 'quirky' Girobank 9 digit account numbers.0 -

I think the point is that both Alliance & Leicester and the Asda Card are now both run by Santander so the overall organisation is the same.
However the right to offset should be documented in the Terms and Conditions and as this change has only just happened it is probably not there. However watch out for when Santander re-vamp the Asda card Terms and Conditions.0 -
Asda are not offering the 2p off on their new cards. they have re launched the card and the 2p off is now no longer a feature. however, in the letter I had it said that the features of the old cards including the 2p off will still stand (for now i would imagine)Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Yet!
It will most likely come and the poster should expect it at some time in the future, as it is a standard banking practice as many other have posted above.0 -

Letter from Asda CC today says as from 1st March the 2p/litre petrol discount will reduce to only 1p/litre and the 2 points per £4 spend will reduce to 1 point per £4.
Does anyone know how this will now stack up against Sainsburys Nectar or Tesco points on petrol? We only use the Asda card for petrol and now not sure if it's worth bothering with any more after end of February0 -

Thanks. I remember Martin stating something about the Natwest one that if they keep different FSA registrations and stay as separate banks then the issue shouldn't occur.
I am on a DMP and owe quite a bit to GE but am steadily paying it off, so hoping to be able to keep my A&L current account (I do have another bank account set up just in case though)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
