Options
I've just switched to o2 broadband and am very pleased with it. One thing worries me - the network key. I don't know what it is !!!!
Where can I find it in the o2 literature I've been send ?

Have alook inside the front cover of your quick start guide, its listed as the wep code under the serial number and the ssid.

Yup found it inside the cover as you say. What's confusing me is this - if I disconnect my wireless broadband and then reconnect it. A screen appears showing the network key hidden by 8 dots. Looking at the wep/network key in the quick start guide, this key is 10 characters. So what is actually hidden behind these 8 dots ?
  • behind the 8 dots is the word "password", just so unscrupulous people can't use password unhiders if they want to find your key.

You are kidding yourself if you think that a 10 character WEP passphrase is giving you any wireless security! You should enter your own long random passphrase from here and change the encryption to WPA or WPA2. Change your SSID and the routers password from the defaults at the same time. WEP encryption was replaced years ago, as it is so easily cracked.
