speeling mistaks don't really bovver me too much, but I 'umbly ask forgiveness if i offend your sensibilities
Perhaps my poor analogies are the reason you think I'm being a bully, what do you think the OP should do?
Should I have bought more diesel when it was 56p/litre? Can i insist that BP reinstate the previous price, after all, it's not my fault that my diesel tank isn't big enough?
I have sympathy in spades for those who deserve it, not dictated by the intelligence (or lack of) of those demanding sympathy, or even myself, but dependent upon a simple question, "is it deserved", on this occasion, in my opinion, ymmv, sympathy is not forthcoming, the OP is unreasonable in their expectations, my poor analogies, while certainy flippant, were (hopefully) inoffensive and (again, hopefully) served to highlight the OPs error.
Self imposed plight? Unreasonable expectations?
I believe you to be wrong in both cases.
You are, however, right in your assessment of your 'poor analogies'.
They are unwarranted and irrelevant.
My initial, simple, question (after giving a brief precis of events to date) was to ask if anyone knows a way to waive or vastly reduce the £75 activation charge which I was never told about.
There are obviously penalties in life for not having the gift of telepathy.
If you don't have an answer, which you clearly don't, then please refrain from posting unhelpful and unfunny comments.
It isn't big or clever.0 -

Knowsley... If it is not in writing (the contract you signed) that there is a 'cut off' then you may have a case, you never know, sky's contract lawyers may have decided that "stating the bleeding obvious" was unnecessary, in which case you may..have a case.
I do not need the Sky Talk part of the package.
The whole deal was done over the phone by a very charming Sky adviser who even deducted the first £15 of the original £17 bill.
There is nothing at all in writing.
The whole deal was done via telephone and I know Sky keep accurate records and times of calls.
Thank you for being helpful.
It was, almost, worth the wait.0 -
Well, I thought it was a requirement of Sky to have a BT landline.
So I would assume that them knowing you didn't have it but were getting it put in would imply that they had accepted that.
And it's not your fault BT took so long to get their bit working (you'd think they'd be happy to get someone go back from NTL), so I reckon there should be a "goodwill gesture" in the offing.
(Of course, the alternative is to stick with the minimum Sky package and go elsewhere for your phone & broadband.)0 -
An update:
After yet more hours on the phone and a flurry of emails, they have activated the broadband which, in the end, I had to pay £75 for. It can't be done without payment apparently.
The £75 will be refunded on this month's bill as a gesture of goodwill.
They're sending me my £100 M&S vouchers and crediting my account with another £20 for all the time I've spent on the phone to them.0
