They no longer match the virgin tariff (its ringfenced).

Orange will match the other three networks (they don't include 3) main (i.e non promotional and good) tariffs.

Ie. they match the expensive tariffs which are not much better than their own, but they won't match any competitors who are actually offering something better. It's like they're admitting they can't compete  :rotfl:

Yes, basically OVP is now a bit of a joke.

I said I had one, I didn't say you could still get it.

Been offered a fair bit for it over the years, I have one for me and one for the mrs .. ideal as our combined mobile bill is usually under £1 per month.

I should think the reason they dumped it was that some canny people would get a new cashback contract and downgrade on to EQ Virgin after 6 months - it went about two months before I had the idea, even though I'd unwittingly done it a couple of years earlier in the last month of a Talkahead deal.

I think you are right. Also, Orange send you an itemised bill every month which must cost them, especially if your usage is low or even zero for that period.

I have two. One for my wife and one for me. I did the 'decent' thing and waited until my year was up at full tarrif before downgrading to OVP Virgin.

Pity you can't get them anymore.

  • Have youexperienced problems with calls dropping. I'm sure orange have corrupted the sim on mine. Around 33% of calls received or made dropp and end using their 3 beeps that end the payg bal enquiry.
They advise that the couldn't possibly comment - which I feel says it all really.
I would like to hear if anyone else is experiencing problems with this. It is obviously a tarriff they would like to stop as it costs them money issuing bills. They do not wish to retain me as a customer and are happy for me to switch to another network - not good customer retention.
