I was actually successful.. Printed off the confirmation when I got it, showed it to the people at Odeon who also requested photo ID, and then security asked me to turn off my phone before going in. Really enjoyed the film.0

I got to the Sheffield showing of Bruno really early, expecting it to be absolutely packed... and it wasn't. We were in a fairly small screen and there was plenty of space. There were three guys on the door checking bags and tickets but we weren't IDed or anything.
In other news, I'm so glad it was free... because I had to watch most of it from behind my hands :eek:0 -

Apparently there were issues with the 1st batch of tickets printed. But our names were on it. I know they sent an email about it weeks ago but it got into my junk mail, and I only just found it. About 30 of us at Brighton got turned away. Grrr....
To be fair, this was a big thing when it first happened on here (when the apology emails got sent out) and I thought it'd be common sense for people to realise they can't go if the ticket doesn't have a venue on it. And you say there was thirty...THIRTY of you...surely more than a few got the email explaining the situation and what and wasn't going to be accepted? or did you just use 30 fake emails and give the tickets out?
I managed to get a ticket the second time around for this showing in Cardiff, but I decided not to go because I knew there'd be hordes or people turning up with the invalid and wrong tickets - it's way too hot this week to be mucking about in queues0 -

Oh, tell me more... I wasn't keen. Had plenty of opportunities to get tickets but it just didn't look like the kind of film I'd enjoy.
I don't mind crude humour, but there's a point where it's not funny any more... anyway, a review please!!!0 -
Well, you see more than his kugelsack.0

I don't think I can actually say much without spoiling it for people who might see it.
It was definitely in the same vein as Borat but went a little bit further with the more graphic things designed to shock. It's definitely an 18 for a reason!
Cohen is very good at what he does but I think more actors and planted people were used in this than in Borat. As ever, you laugh at the reactions of the people rather than SBC himself... as soon as you see the captions coming up describing where he is, you know things are going to go downhill rather sharpish.
Whereas Borat was naive and people opened up to him, you can see them taking an instant disliking to Bruno as an overtly camp character, so the situations are slightly different. I'm just surprised the man is still alive!
Nice twist at the end too.
There... made you curious now0 -
I had the same issue with Bruno - name on it but not the cinema. So they queried it obviously thinking it was a fake asking me 3 times which website i got it from and when did I get it. Apparantly there wasn't a logo on it that they expected. Then they let me in. They took a couple aside as it had one name on there and the guy had requested it as two tickets. I think they got in eventually too. Took them about 20 minutes to get everyone through their security. The air con was blasting away.
I too often covered my eyes, can't believe he got away so to speak with as much as he did. I felt it was alot more out there than Borat was, challenging people. And yes lots of graphic moments.0 -

We were all packed in, as they were expecting a good turnout - 95% full.
The place got hotter from the moment the film started.....it was almost unbearable by the end of the film. Also endless people kept going out to the toilet.....clearly they kept drinking, as it was so damned hot!!!!!!
Several people left before the end....
I did enjoy the film....but as it went on and on and on....... all i will probably remember is being desperate to leave.
Johnny Depp fan or not......the film was 30 minutes longer than it needed to be!
There's no excuse for not having the air-con on, as I watched another film there recently at the same screen and it was a lot cooler!!!!!
Totally agree with you was ushered to the back row and their was no air con (it was unbearable). Security wasn't too bad (A Hulkwarrior at the main doors asking peeps to switch off phones).
The film was definitely 30 mins too long but Depp played a good partrail of Dillenger.
Went to see Bruno today at Newport Cineworld and the 3 Hulkwarriors were a bunch of idiots.
Firstly I checked in my ticket with the girl at the desk and was told to go to screening 11. I sat down for 5 mins and then I was told to leave the room to queue outside the door and then I moved on to check in again. Queued up again to find they'd moved the screening sheets and then the 2 Hulkwarriors refused me entry because I forgot my photo id but had numerious bank cards to prove who I was.
They eventually let me through....then the film started 15 mins due to tech problems and 2/3 of the goonies actually watched the film...
The film was good....definately should be a 18 certificate.....screening was only 50-60% full - plenty of space and it was nice and COOL
I am so pleased i've seen it 2 1/2 weeks before release....everyone in work loves me!!Indieguy (Freebie Hunter and Online Survey Specialist since 1999)0 -
sorted out some tickets and made it in to see Bruno at west india quays, but security was so tight! they checked your ID three times, and before you went into the screening they checked ur bags also and made sure your phone was turned off. Also security wouldnt except change of name tickets with an email. The name on the ticket had to be of the person attending with their ID.
I was there as well....
There weren't name (guest) list as mentioned from previous posts.... I was sceptical before I went as this was my first time....
But the best thing was NO adverts!!! :T:beer:0 -
